Re: Devolution - Gamecube loader for Wii/Wii U updated to r234

I recently (read: still have over half the warranty remaining) bought a brand new, not refurbished, Wii remote (specifically one of these , though of the "Toad" model which has since sold out and been delisted from the "Color" drop-down menu) from Nintendo's online store, but for some reason, whenev...

Re: Devolution - Gamecube loader for Wii/Wii U updated to r234

SD cards aren't any easier to find than USB sticks and hard drives though. Seems silly to be using one of those when you can just put a Double Dash disc into each Wii and start playing in LAN mode. I'm confused - why not just use the very same SD/USB device that Devolution itself is stored on? That...

It was - the sample Devolution loader doesn't care about file name.
PowerPC wrote:Two original copies is still the easiest and doesn't require hard drives or USB sticks which the Wii can be picky with.
Devolution doesn't require USB sticks either - you can just use the SD card.

Re: Devolution - Gamecube loader for Wii/Wii U updated to r234

I figured it was easier to let Devolution run the game from the disc instead of trying to get the verification+backup thing working. Well you don't need any cIOS (the 'c' stands for "crap") stuff to use Devolution with backups. Assuming that the storage device containing Devolution has at least 1.4...

Re: Devolution - Gamecube loader for Wii/Wii U updated to r234

the XBOX controller has its buttons labelled ass-backwards compared to most ABXY pads so that would be why. Alright then, let me ask a different question: Is Sega ass-backwards? Putting B to the right of A matches what Sega has been doing since the Master System, and putting Y to the right of X mat...

Re: Devolution - Gamecube loader for Wii/Wii U updated to r234

Quick question. I noticed that using "Direct Buttons" on an Xbox 360 controller doesn't actually seem to give you "direct buttons" but rather changes the button arrangement from that of the GameCube to that of the SNES, neither of which actually matches the Sega/Xbox button layout arrangement. Heck,...

Re: Devolution - Gamecube loader for Wii/Wii U updated to r234

I believe I recall something about Devolution being able to save the emulated memory card to locations other than where the games are located. I have my games on a USB drive but would like the emulated memory card to be located on the SD card.

Is such a thing possible?

Re: Devolution - Gamecube loader for Wii/Wii U updated to r234

Well that's just great.

Any idea if there's anyway to have this issue occur with commercial software, or am I just going to have to try everything and the kitchen sink in hopes that something somewhere will have an issue that may be enough for the wiimote to be accepted for RMA?

Re: Devolution - Gamecube loader for Wii/Wii U updated to r234

One wifi log coming right up (BTW, is the wifi logging supposed to not work with USB Loader GX? It only seemed to work with the sample loader...) For reference, this is the procedure I did: 1. Start Devolution app with problematic wiimote 2. Press the "2" button on said wiimote 3. Start wifi logging...

Just an FYI, that problematic wiimote still retained the Mii and SSBB profile data even after like 28 hours of having no batteries in said wiimote.

I'm going to leave the batteries out of that wiimote over-night and see if it ma...

Re: Devolution - Gamecube loader for Wii/Wii U updated to r234

tl;dr - it's a dud, they probably tested it as working for 5 seconds and didn't bother doing any "refurbishing". Well it is still in warranty (will be for another 4 months), but presumably that wouldn't get me anywhere considering that it works fine even on official software, correct? EDIT: Wait, y...

Have you actually tried to synch it (using the red buttons on both devices) while Devolution is running? Yes I have done so, and it does sync and connect the wiimote to the point that, even if I shut off the system it'll be able to re-connect. However, I just did I bunch more testing on this issue ...

Uhhh, it was ordered directly via Nintendo of America's online shop - other than ordering from Nintendo of Japan's online shop, you can't really get much more officially 1st party than that. It is a refurbished wiimote FYI, and if it makes any difference it has a "pass through" button-pusher for the...

Re: Devolution - Gamecube loader for Wii/Wii U updated to r234

So uh, I have recent wiimote (refurbished and only 8 months old) that Devolution seems to be unable to see at all. Luckily it's not much of an issue since I have 3 other wiimotes and I only have 3 classic controllers, but I just wanted to check if this is a known issue. I figure it's related to the ...

Oh, I think you misunderstood me - I wasn't thinking about a generic fix but the theoretical idea of a game-specific fix for Rogue Leader, and was wondering if something like that Metroid Prime Oculus code got made for Rogue Leader if it'd be of any use.

Well like I said, I didn't know if the widescreen hack worked in the GameCube version of Metroid Prime/2 Echoes or not. I'm guessing it works flawlessly on both? I will say though, unless the culling got fixed in newer revisions of Devolution (I haven't updated in a while because I want to redo my W...

I do not own nor have access to a copy of the GameCube version of Metroid Prime so I cannot test if this has already been implemented, but I discovered an few AR codes used for eliminating visible culling for the Oculus Rift and wondered if such a thing would be useful as part of a game-specific wid...

Re: GC - Wii U controller adapter with Devolution

Several years back I believe it was stated that tueidj hates the GameCube controller (I believe he is fond of the DreamCast/Xbox style of gamepad).

So honestly I wouldn't be surprised if support for it didn't get implemented.
