Re: Power plug alternative
Yea when I said you had to trim the key and make sure you had the proper polarity, I meant the entire outer plastic where the pins are so only the 2 inner pins were left that you could then plug into the jack. But thanks for posting the extra info and pics so people can understand better what we are...

Re: Power plug alternative
You could use a Wii (not Wii U) adapter on the GC with out issue the voltage is is the same and rated up to 3.75A vs the GC original 3.25 current load (You can all ways go higher in AMPs with a AC adapter, but not voltage and never lower). How ever you would need to change the plug on the Wii adapte...

Re: Wii DVD/Wiikey Fusion/WODE + GC Portable Discussion
The WODE and Wiikey fusion are dvd drive replacements, so they will look like a normal dvd drive to the gamecube... Emulators will load files from them as they would with the dvd drive. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think it could be possible to add a Viper or Qoob chip to this setup. But we need ...

Re: Wii DVD/Wiikey Fusion/WODE + GC Portable Discussion
I love all the work being done here and it's nice to see a HDD option to replace the ODD. Though I am curious about how well home brew will work with these, Especially emulators like FCEU-GC, Snes9x, and VBA-GC. Also will they work in conjunction to say a Viper Extreme or Qoob Pro or not if you want...

Re: Building a portable GC: Need options other than DVD
for that you'll want some thing a bit finer around 800-1000 it will take longer, but there's less chance of damaging the traces in the plastic. Worst case is you end up buffing them a little at that grit if they're exposed where a 240 grit would eat them with in 2-3 strokes after being exposed.

Re: Building a portable GC: Need options other than DVD
Or find some thing that is solid aluminium or copper that will work as a shim between the chips and heat sink. I recently just used a 1980 penny (full copper pennies were phased out in spring 1982) sanded smooth to act as a shim between the GPU and heat sink to fix a laptop for a friend.

Re: Building a portable GC: Need options other than DVD
I didn't have much time on the weekend unfortunately, but I will hopefully some time this week. I got as far as removing the connectors from the Sundriver and the GC and connecting a single wire. Sadly, when I lifted the connector some pads came off with it so I'm thinking to solder to the traces o...

No offense but when you look at the last picture can you just hear the tortured soul of a Gamecube begging to be put out of it's misery.

Re: USB Gecko Special Edition Coming Soon & website goes liv
Nice was looking into one of these when I got my cube but no one had any left for a reasonable price. Also hope even though it's the same USB chip being used they will have 64-bit OS support so you don't have to VM every thing.
Re: Qoob Chip
Reason it won't install the driver is that it's probably a 32-bit version and you have to have a 64-bit driver. So you either have to find a 64-bit driver or use a Virtual Machine that's 32-bit like the Win XP Mode for Windows 7 Ultimate.

Re: Plugins for Viper GC (a SDloader?)
Make sure your SD Card if formatted properly Using SDFormatter v2.0 from Panasonic it will properly format the card to the SD Specs. I've also had that issue with mine, I'm not sure what causes it other then it does it more often with more then one controller plugged in. If you are using a external ...

Re: Plugins for Viper GC (a SDloader?)
If you run a DOL from the viper explorer and it just sits there with the running DOL File message it isn't your SD Geko but the DOl it's self. Attached is the SD Load I use on a Viper GC Extreme With Cobra v2.1. It's all ready compressed so you just need to load it to the Viper Flash memory. It's th...

Re: Show off your Cube!
I noticed you have a Wii Classic Controller hooked up to the Cube in the middle how did you get it to work. Last to my knowledge they didn't work on a Cube or am I wrong on that cause I would love to get one or possibly a Pro version for my games and emulators.

Re: Show off your Cube!
yea I'm debating between a single LED with a light bar per port to distribute the light across all the dots, Or using mini LEDs with a 1.5-2mm tip for each dot. as for a switch I'll ether use a micro momentary like you would find in a CD player or use one of the existing ground fingers in the contro...

Re: Show off your Cube!
not really cause the paint I used was a universal for plastic or metal it bonded just fine. about the only thing I did was go over the top case section lightly with cloth I have sprayed with non-chlorinated bake cleaner (is practically pure acetone). It lifted a little of the silver on there but not...

Re: Show off your Cube!
Well finally got my Cube painted so I thought I would post my pics of it so far. There are some other things I plan to do, Like a custom emblem and LED lights in place if the dots for each controller port that light only when a controller is plugged in. Unfortunately my summer hobby of R/C models ha...

Re: Gamecube cases
i read tht u need to flash the memory of qoob and viper before install, is it difficult to do? Don't know where you heard that but if you get a Viper GC Extreme USB you install the mod plug in the USB adapter with the dip switch set to firmware upgrade and flash the BIOS through the PC (with the GC...

If you ask your local game stop they can have one shipped in from another store for free i did that and got it for $1.07 after tax. It was shipped from louisiana all the way to Chicago took about a week to get in. Unfortunately while it works the Viper GC Extreme locks up when i try to load up SDLo...

Re: One Question
Depending on how good your soldering skills are one fix I do for broken flat cables is to remove the connectors from the 2 PCBs then take a old ATA-100 IDE Cable (has to be the 80 wire cable), Kynar Wire, or any insulated 28-30 awg wire and direct solder the wires to each pad that the connector pins...

Yea just got my case today, witch was a surprise i figured it would of been at least 4 more days. I ordered on the 12th and got it today the 17th so pretty quick shipping. it takes them about 2 days after you order to actually ship but that's typical. Only complaint i have is that i ordered the top ...

Re: ICEDCube Cases "FOUND" VERY FEW Quantities!!!
yea was $11.84USD for basic shipping to IL, USA. Considering I have only found them in european countries that would of cost me $50-80USD for the Top only (no shipping added). I consider $24.82USD a good price for the Top case and Shipping. Though I admit it is sorta ridiculous that the Case Top and...
