Re: In a pickle (gameboy player)

No, you just put it on your SD card and load it directly from the SDML or Swiss menu.

Re: Questions on the WiiKey Fusion

There is no good reason to use it with a Wii, instead you should use one of the homebrew-based backup loaders which offer a lot more features. To answer your questions: - Yes. - With WBFS manager, unless you intend to use Swiss (but you will lose the option to play Wii games), in which case you just...

Re: Dumping Datel unlicensed discs?

Yes, greyrogue's version of cleanrip is modified to dump Datel's broken discs. I haven't read the code so I can't tell you exactly how it guesses whether a sector is bad, but it's most likely by trial and error, which is why it takes so long.

Re: In a pickle (gameboy player)

Unfortunately, there's no other option. You could look for a second hand SDML disc. If you intend to use the GBP startup disc, you will have to burn it and swap the disc, it doesn't work from an SD card. You can however use GameBoy Interface instead.

With a USB gecko and https://github.com/emukidid/gc-usb-load. iplboot includes part of the GC side of that program.

toxic9, do you see something like this when it fails to boot?

Do give r5.2 a try, I've tested it on my Qoob Pro this time and it works.

Re: Qoob Chip

Maybe I need to do more testing then. All I've tried is loading a dol over USB and it worked. I didn't test SD loading nor flashing to the Qoob. The difference is r5.1 is actually compiled with optimizations for size, r5 wasn't due to an oversight.

Re: Custom QSB for Wasp/WKF with DVD drive

It'll work with the wode. Order the boards as well as a pair of FFC connectors that you will have to solder onto them. You may not need the voltage regulator for this, you'll have to wire multiple voltages to the wode as far as I know.

Re: Qoob Chip

Did you managed to compress everything without removing exFat support and other stuff?! :o Yes, thanks to dolxz + enabling compiler optimizations for size, everything is in, and the compressed executable is actually functional (I've only tested USB loading but that means everything should work). Th...

Re: Reverse engineering Animal Crossing's developer mode

I've finished reading it and it was a neat read. It's cool that those developer menus have been left in release builds, and that games shipped with symbol maps. For most games, binaries are completely stripped and debugging features are removed. I guess it's mostly out of laziness and oversights tha...

Not yet. I've decided to make my own packer, which might take a while. I'll try dolxz in the meantime.

Re: gamecube fan replacement

You should have at least half of the 39W from the power brick available to power the fans, I'm not sure how that's not enough.

You can't compile not64 without Extrems' custom toolchain which he doesn't release.

Re: gamecube fan replacement

I wouldn't recommend that you do that. The gamecube is a very low power device compared to modern desktop PCs and doesn't need much cooling capacity. You can easily run it without the fan for a while. The heatsink will get toasty though.

Re: gamecube fan replacement

In other words, pretty much any fan designed for use in a PC will work. 50mm is best though, because it'll fit without having to butcher the case.

Re: Qoob Chip

That's great progress. I'm pretty sure I know where the problem comes from, it's an issue when using dollz to compress the binary that I can reproduce on my setup. I'll see if I can get it to work properly, probably with a different packer. Thanks for trying this out and helping me to finally get it...

I don't think Extrems is interested in adding a menu directly in GBI. You won't be able to add it either because it's not open source.

Re: Qoob Chip

You can try this. It's an already patched updater. Build scripts were updated to generate this and are on the repo if you're interested. I've also asked emu_kidid to try it, we'll see how it turns out. Keep in mind this build has exFAT support disabled to fit within the limit.
