F-Zero GX/AX Custom Stages

Hey everyone. About 8 years has past since I was bugging people on here about things in hopes to help reverse-engineer the stages files for F-Zero GX. In that time I've still be working on that, and have over the last few weeks done enough to be making some custom stages. I figured I would share tha...

I am many months late to say, but thank you for posting the codes for all versions in the forum. I appreciate it!

Re: F-Zero GX (GCN/WIIRD/NTSC-U)

Since I don't see it posted here I figured I would ask: is there a code to select custom cup loadouts? Similar to the "Replace Ruby Cup With Story Mode Cup" cheat, is there one where you can replace the typically stock XX indexes with the index for a track in each cup?

Re: Yet another USB Gecko clone

So I finally had a bit of time again to try things out and still no luck. I've tried 3 operating systems at this point. From digging around I know that Windows 10 is not supported by iMPACT so I went and made both a Windows XP x32 and Windows 7 x64 virtual machine to try things out. Windows 7 would ...

Re: Yet another USB Gecko clone

Thanks for the reply! I find that a strange choice but presume it provides flexibility in device power requirements. I should probably take the time to read the manual to learn these things. Good to know! Edit: I didn't notice before but the pinout is indeed Vref and not Vcc which makes a lot of sen...

Re: Yet another USB Gecko clone

I've been trying to get my boards programmed and I'm having the hardest time getting anything to work. I had spent a week finagling with various JTAG programmers and Arduino XSVF players with no luck so I bought one of the knock-off XILINX programmers from AliExpress (which arrived today). While it ...

Re: GameCube and USB-C

Papy.G, I think that would make for a great thread. It would be great to get ranges on each component down. A list for BBA, GBA Player, etc, drawing X power. It would allow people to easily spec out what they need, such as in EatingACookies' case.

Re: GameCube and USB-C

That's a neat niche idea. I assume you would want to replace the power connector port on the GC itself? As for specs, you can always go over with current but never under. The GC spec is 3.25A, so 3.5A is fine. When you under-supply current, that's asking for trouble. The GC would try to draw more th...

Re: PAL disc reader on NTSC system

I cannot confirm but I would suspect you could. What's nice about the GameCube is the Power Supply Unit is outside the console. Each region converts the local power grid into a consistent one for use by the GameCube. In the end, the GameCube takes in 12v DC 3.25A which is the output of any PSU, give...

Re: Yet another USB Gecko clone

Thanks mj_judge! It turns out the part I had listed on Digi-Key is the same. Glad you could confirm that as I know some of the other questions in this thread relate to part specifics. If you don't mind throwing up the datasheet for the other part that would be nice for any future readers. That one i...

Re: Yet another USB Gecko clone

https://wiibrew.org/wiki/USB_Gecko have you had a look here, there is a lot of information about how it works. Thanks mj_judge. I haven't been on that page in a long time. The information helped shed some light on the device itself but doesn't fully address the concern I have which is that the laym...

Re: Yet another USB Gecko clone

I would appreciate if someone could more accurately outline the specifics of the CPLD (and perhaps USB controller for good measure too) for anyone trying to build their own. The original post lacks any specifics about the part in question. Farnell no longer lists the item on their site. Wayback Mach...

Re: Using Alternate Contacts for GameCube NTSC-J Region Switch

Thanks for the reply Shambolic. I do still want a permanent solution though. The region switch resource you provided was helpful. In reading the document and referencing the region switch docs on the gc-forever wiki I realized a solution that should bypass the issue on NTSC-J DOL-001 models when usi...

Using Alternate Contacts for GameCube NTSC-J Region Switch

It's been a while since I last frequented the forums. I'm as busy as ever but have gotten some time recently to revisit modding. I'm looking for some advice for how to approach adding a region switch to an NTSC-J GameCube (DOL-001) without using the R6 contacts. I had an unsuccessful run a few month...

Re: 8 controllers on GameCube?

If my memory serves correctly, all of the 8 player mini-games required each player to share a controller, and as such were relatively simple, using the Analogue/C-Stick, L/R, or d-pad/face-buttons. You could do it all on 1 GC with 4 controllers.

COLI Filetype Breakdown (F-Zero GX)

// WIP // This thread is going start out being a bit of a information dump. Long story short, Panzerhandschuh and I have been tackling F-Zero GX's collision data since sometime January and have made a lot of progress, though that has stopped lately due to college. However, we've compile a lot of inf...

Re: GMA Filetype Breakdown

Thanks. I had a quick test of the LZSS decompressor (which deosn't appear to decompress the files) and fix and couldn't operate it correctly. The LZfix would crash on me. Anything in particular that needs to be done in order for it to work?

Re: GMA Filetype Breakdown

If that's the case, please post a detailed analysis of the collision format. If you are unsure of anything, specify that. Last I saw, you still had bugs with your collision. I also assume by something to decompress it, you mean a modified gxpand or LZSS decompressor that can decompress Super Monkey ...

The formatting of the GMA looks the same. I can't see any differences from here other than the added RAM values.

When taking pictures close up, set you camera to the close-ups option so to focus on small items better. It's usually identified by a flower symbol.

Re: Game.TOC Initial Entry Offset

I thought the same, but doing the math, &&SystemData only adds up to 1.7Mb for GX and 1.9Mb for SMB2. However, GX is offset by ~21Mb, and SMB2 a whopping 423Mb. So I really don't get what's going on. (Well, SMB2 is odd for sure, it's index isn't linearly incremental, sometimes the offset goe...
