Re: What modcip works in panasonic q?

BTW I found a WIP version of the xeno firmware with the possibility of load a .dol from the memory card. Are there udate on that? Does it work? It works mostly but you'll need a disc in the drive anyway so at that point, you might as well load a DVD-R with Swiss or something. It just replaces the C...

Re: What modcip works in panasonic q?

Did I say something wrong?? :( Absolutely not. It was a technically perfect comment. I never had a look at those sources and it was very interesting for me. In theory should be possibile to create a Q-compatible update for the Xeno but I'm not a programmer, sadly. BTW I found a WIP version of the x...

Openwode?

When Wode was released you could download a file called openwode.rar from the original site. That site is no longer working, the wayback machine doesn't have a copy of the file and I wasn't able to find it on the net. Someone can help me? It contains the file and info needed to create your own linux...

If it's claimed that the XenoGC can only recognise the 3 drives from standard GameCubes, in theory, if one was to inject the Panasonic drive into the code/bios for it to recognise, will it then work??
Where did you read this claim?

Another take on a homebrew sd card adapter. Some pull up resistor and a transistor for the sense line.

Re: how does one update wodejukebox

Probably the "boot" version is connected to HW version. You already have the latest firmware according to this: https://wode.obeygravity.de/Downloads#Firmware_Update_Files Maybe you can downgrade and then upgrade again following those instructions: https://wode.obeygravity.de/FirmwareDowngrade but.....

Memory card editing with Raspberry PI

I missed this one: it's a project for reading and writing GameCube memory cards with a Raspberry Pi. Not exactly the most useful thing since you can use a softmodded wii or HW on gamecube but it's nice to know about new stuff being developed for the cube. https://jamchamb.github.io/2018/12/03/gamecu...

Re: What modcip works in panasonic q?

Vertical resolution is 480 for NTSC vs 576 for pal, this is why they need more ram. On the unmodded units the chip is missing.

Re: What modcip works in panasonic q?

Panasonic Q is NTSC-Jap. To make a universal video dvd reader for NTSC you need a service disk (that is not easy to replicate because it uses a special format). For having Pal compatibility you need also an extra memory chip and, from the photos I saw, also a pic with unknown content.

Re: What modcip works in panasonic q?

Viper extreme, qoob pro, qoob sx, viper "normal" and probably all the ipl replacement. Xeno "should", my Panasonic Q is still unmodded (but I have a region switch). The problem with memory card is not related to the bios but to the games saving. It could happen also if you use japanese software on a...

Re: What modcip works in panasonic q?

This is the problem with opinions... they are not facts. The gamecube motherboard inside a Panasonic Q is almost standard so, every modchip connected to the motherboard will work in the same way. The dvd drive uses a custom board because it interface with both the gamecube motherboard and the dvd de...

Have a look here to see how it works:

You will realize that a 0 ohm resistor or simply some solder will do the trick.

Re: [REQ] Delaminated gamecube motherboard images

I've found them here: http://forums.modretro.com/index.php?threads/gamecube-layer-info.2118/ They are not clear as I hoped for but better than nothing. The idea is to see if it's possible to wire the gameboy player to a wii. I've read that the fast parallel bus of the gamecube is buried inside the B...

As long as it still has regular DVD support
Being based on the D4 chipset it doesn't have regular DVD support. Probably is possible to replace the controller board but that would means also manually rewire the laser and spindle motor.

Re: Has anyone tried using a Wii Mini DVD Drive in a GameCube?

Well, that is necrobumping but I've saw a few technical information about wii mini and gamecube that are wrong. The wii mini optical drive IS NOT paired with the mainboard. I just bought two very cheap wii minis and swapped the drives and everything works. The main chip on wii mini pcb seems to be a...

[REQ] Delaminated gamecube motherboard images

Eons ago I remember seeing some images of the gamecube motherboard with all component removed and with the solder mask removed. I found them for wii and they are a very good source of information, it's almost like having the schematics. Does someone stil have those (for gamecube)? Also a high resolu...

Re: DVD Drive Emulator Question

Put a microsd card slot if you need to save space (a smaller pcb is less expensive) and maybe a few test point with the microsd signals easy accessible if someone wants to solder wires to relocate the sd card slot. I would personally appreciate the opportunity to have the dvd drive still usable (bec...

Re: Portable TV with Built in wii

I think it is a nice idea, provided that you find a crt portable TV with enough space inside. Many of older portable tvs have a huge space for the batteries that you can remove, and a big and bulky transformer that, in theory, shouldn't be so difficult to replace with something more compact. Be awar...

Re: Component assistance (basic problems)

Hi, USA gamecube should output NTSC composite. Your TV probably accept only PAL composite. Check on your TV manual if there is a RGB input and, if it's present, buy a PAL gamecube in Australia, with the RGB cable (that doesn't work on NTSC cubes) and you will enjoy a good image quality for cheap (al...
