I don't think it is encrypted, because iirc the FPGA does not support that. However, I am pretty sure there is some IP protection in place. Not sure what you are trying to accomplish here?

Iirc, the gb consolizer reclocks the GBA to make the HDMI framerate compliant to the specs. I think the gb player probably has its own internal clock. If you want to do the same trick, that would require more advanced modding.

If you can make it plug-and-play it would be an interesting alternative. The biggest limitation imo would be the fact that synchronizing the HDMI framerate and GB framerate would result in a non-standard HDMI output rate. It would probably still work on a lot of TVs though.

Indeed, things should go smoother and smoother each round. For the first round, the fab actually forgot to solder on a component. Citrus had to solder this on by hand for ~500 boards. If he had ordered more boards, the manual labor would have been even more intense.
