Not really as it is still very grey area. I doubt Kickstarter would allow these kinds of products that promote using 'backups'.

I like the idea to do it similar to GDEMU. If the compatibility is high, you don't need the DVD drive anymore. Based on my own experience both my Saturn and DC have no optical drive and I have not once found myself in a situation that I would need it again. I would focus on keeping the cost down. Ha...
