Re: UltraHDMI question

(translation) i’m trying to copy the ultra HDMI so I don’t have to pay 200 for it Haha, that's a good one guys! I actually obtained one recently, and I just made a high-res scan of it. Thoughts would be appreciated :) Front: https://www.gc-forever.com/forums/download/file.php?mode=view&id=3623 Back...

Re: NinjaMod

It had some form of obfuscation and a check at boot time, but it was easily reversed and someone kept leaking the bios in .dol format. Ohhh right, so it wasn't like an ASIC fortress I suppose :D Therefore was it just a standard flash chip on a board? And was it flashable compared to the later chips...

Re: NinjaMod

Might someone enlighten me? Or Pics of it by any chance? :) This isn't the right thread to be doing so in. Please create another. Okay, will do for that topic. However, just a quick question for this chip, do you know if it's like the Qoob where it is using an ASIC chip, enabling it to be encrypted...

Re: XenoGC and Panasonic Q

Swiss can dump drive firmware via the "System" device. You can do this on every retail version of the GameCube, including the Panasonic Q as long as you can boot homebrew on it. Dump all drive firmwares, understand what those offsets in XenoGC mean, adapt them for the Q and then you might be in luc...

Re: NinjaMod

Yes there were salty feelings behind this that I still have to this day. It's a tmbinc modchip clone. It was bad quality and they used GCOS (with minor UI changes) on it without any permission. It's the same as trying to release a mod now with Swiss on it as the main bios and claiming it's yours :P...

Re: Qoob Chip

Also, I just did this earlier today. I took the opportunity of some free space downstairs at home to disassemble my Gamecube and remove the Qoob Pro. I decided to make a high quality scan of the mod chip and its USB counterpart. Look forward to your thoughts and hope to hear back from previous posts...

Re: Tmbinc's modchip ideal for swiss

None of the modchips are still being produced or sold on a bigger scale afaik. Sometimes people find boxes of 10+ units and sell them on this or other forums NinjaMod is dead, same as the others. I might still have a sealed one, but it's not a good modchip anymore - in comparison. If there's a poin...

Re: NinjaMod

Hi guys, Sorry for bumping this thread up, I kinda have the feeling there is some salty feelings behind this. But it got me really intrigued, what is this tmbinc IPL replacement/mod chip? I tried searching around and there doesn't seem to be any documentation of it. Can someone possibly enlighten me...

Re: Tmbinc's modchip ideal for swiss

Hi guys, Sorry for bumping this thread up, but I was kinda thinking the same thing. Because the Qoob is no longer manufactured and pretty much out of circulation, can there still be a point to this? :D Also does anyone know about the status of the NinjaMod chip? Hope you're all staying safe and sou...

Re: UltraHDMI question

Hi guys, Sorry for bumping this thread up, but it was the closest to a UltraHDMI question that I would like to ask. The firmware is upgradeable and downloadable from its website. I was wondering, does anyone know if it is encrypted (thus decryption takes place within the board it sits on)? Or can on...

Re: Qoob Chip

May I ask, why would it be slow? Is it to do with the IC, hence why you suggest a high speed 8051 IC? You need a µC that has enough IO ports, and can handle SPI communications in a sort of background thanks to an integrated peripheral, (mainly clock generator, serial and buffers, kinda USART), and ...

Re: Qoob Chip

I said that it may be slow, if even it is feasible, to add external Flash to a Xeno GC, and if we manage to add SPI memory, it would be worth to go the extra mile to get SD support as well. For this kind of application, you have better start with high-speed 8051 core µC who will be able to handle t...

Re: Qoob Chip

The 8051 is a very versatile µC, quite impressive for its time (second generation of intel's "single-chip Microcomputer", back at the beginning of the 80's), and to begin, it can run programs off its internal memory, off an external one, or from both, if you don't know how it is done on the design ...

Re: Qoob Chip

While you suggest swapping the chip as a feasibility, can't the board be "cloned" or redesigned from scratch to accommodate SWISS? Besides, why does it have to be a Qoob mod chip, can't SWISS be but on any chip perhaps? You need to stop, this seems to be far beyond your understanding. Swiss can be ...

Re: Qoob Chip

What part of this chip is the flash memory? It is quite obvious, you have three big chips on this board, a µC in the MCS-51 family, an Asic, and a Flash memory. And is that chip where the Qoob bios is contained? That depends on what you mean by Qoob bios. The way the "chip" behaves is dictated by t...

Re: Qoob Chip

I don't know if many (if one ever) chips have enough memory to put SWISS in its current version/release. Burning an update disc to flash each release may be quite useless if you can flash straight from an SD card as well. There again you'd better just launch SWISS off this very SD. Well couldn't re...

Re: Qoob Chip

No, current alternatives boot: - from a disc first then off the SD - from a chip to boot off the SD - from an optical drive replacement's SD This one got me thinking, especially the second point you've made. Are you saying that you can put Swiss on a modchip (i.e. boots straight to Swiss OS) and pl...

Re: Qoob Chip

That's a shame I would've thought someone by now would've decrypted it and make modifications (probably to have stuff that Swiss is doing), probably that was the idea if that was possible all those years back? Swiss and other tools have long superseded the functionality of the Qoob BIOS hence no in...
