Re: Game Boy Interface

You get a wider zoom range in 16:9 since GBA is slightly wider than 4:3.

But if you insist, you can use the CLI append method and convert the DOL+CLI with dol2gci.

A square? Is the on-screen display reading 16:9? If so, set your TV to 16:9.

Re: Game Boy Interface

I can finally reveal the quality issues with the GCHD (GCVideo-DVI really). https://shmups.system11.org/viewtopic.php?p=1323030#p1323030 https://www.gc-forever.com/wiki/index.php?title=Game_Boy_Interface/Speedrunning_Edition#Video_quality https://www.gc-forever.com/wiki/index.php?title=Game_Boy_Inte...

Re: Game Boy Interface

Hey Extrems, Did you had any experience with controllers/adapters incompatibility while making GBI? I recently bought an EMS Classic Linker N64 to be able to play with the Snes mini controller or a wii classic controller, but sadly the adapter isn't recognized at all. It works perfectly in Swiss, G...

Yes, but it's better to use GCMM (which does work and originally was for GameCube).

Re: Game Boy Interface

480p is a necessary "evil" because of GCVideo DVI. Disable progressive scan if you don't want it.

360p is arguably better than 240p for the OSSC.

For speedrunning edition:
  • Merged vertical filter controls.

Re: Game Boy Interface

Yes, you can use any filter types in the calculator. They're not all suitable for this application though.

I figured out the parameters for the Game Boy Player Start-up Disc, so you can use those now.

Hey dumb question, I'm looking for the added options in the OP like video mode. The only video settings I see are Show FPS, Screen Mode, CPU Framebuffer, 2xSal Textures, and FB Textures. Where are the "added" Not64 options found?
In /not64/settings.cfg

  • Added analog sound emulation.
  • Fixed some audio bugs.
For standard edition:
  • Changed default sound mode to analog.
I've always felt sound left something to be desired. Now it sounds like the Nintendo DS' headphone out.

Re: Game Boy Interface

Extrems, I'm curious about something. Do you know if the GC/Wii has a 256x240 video mode, as seen in NES/SNES emulators, or does it simply draw the screen at that resolution and scale it to 320x240? 240p on GC/Wii is typically 720x240. The system is based on ITU-R BT.601 and video timings are defin...

This remove the need to spam "--input-gamma=1. --output-gamma=1.", reducing user confusion.

Re: Game Boy Interface

I don't know about Drill Dozer, but Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga is notorious in the speedrunning community for performance issues even with the Game Boy Player Start-up Disc.

I've now documented the enhancements on the wiki, even if this isn't specific to Game Boy Interface.

I thought there were hotkeys on the first post the last time I visited, but either I imagined it, or they are gone now. They were moved to the wiki. Also, does the pre-compiled GCI version support the LUTs? Or do I have to burn it to disc or get an SD adapter? They can only be loaded from an SD car...

I said to try 720x1080i (--format=hd60 --scan-mode=non-progressive), not 960x720i. Nor did I say to change the scaling filter.

I don't normally use televisions, so I'm going out of my way here.

Re: Game Boy Interface

Thanks for that, loving this software. It seems some GBA games auto-exec as well. I was able to insert Metroid Fusion to dump, but inserting Metroid Zero Mission triggers execution. Don't hotswap cartridges. Hold Start + Select on the Game Boy logo with the cartridge inserted. Also, not having luck...
