Re: Swiss Nightly Build

This is already a thing. You can place a boot.dol at the root of your SD card. See also this for more advanced options with this (no binary build supports it yet). It could also support booting games but that isn't implemented. Hi everyone, This is my 1st post here, as I'm discovering Swiss and its...

Re: Swiss Nightly Build

Hi all, I wanted to report an issue I've noticed recently when messing around with SWISS. I know this is very much a work in progress with constant iterations and fixing, but thought I'd throw my experiences in the mix. Previously, the 2GB SDcard was a big hurdle that prevented me from using SWISS a...

Re: Swiss Nightly Build

Just wanted to chime in here and say thank you to emukidid and anyone else involved in the project for recently fixing the issue here https://github.com/emukidid/swiss-gc/issues/152 regarding "Gamecube games (ISO's) can no longer be loaded from 2GB standard SD cards". Works a treat, I know...

Is there a way to download this build for MSU-1 support already compiled for GameCube?

Re: Swiss Nightly Build

I was able to get my hands on an older version of SWISS 0.3 (as well as a couple other older releases, 0.1 r47 and 0.2 r62) and can confirm that I was able to get games to load properly off a 2GB SD Card. Unfortunately, it's one of the older SWISS 0.3 releases (r174), and I don't exactly know at one...

Re: Swiss Nightly Build

Been a bit and don't mean to pester (I'm sorry for my annoyance, but it's definitely important to me!) just wanted to see if you had an update or any ideas for me if you or anyone else has had a chance to think about it. Thanks!

Re: Swiss Nightly Build

Are there any older versions I can test or versions you may suspect that would be worth testing where some changes may not have been implemented to cause issues? Thanks!

Re: Swiss Nightly Build

I have a non SDHC card I can test with the latest build from github & SDML, I'll see what I can find. Thank you emu_kidid, I know it's probably going out of your way a bit but I greatly appreciate it. If there's any testing I can do on my end as well, test versions, configuration settings, logs...

Re: Swiss Nightly Build

Support for non-HC cards might actually be broken, I don't even have one to test with, and I don't think emu_kidid ever tests it either. That is what I am guessing as well, as I'm able to use my setup with actual SDHC cards even ones of questionable nature with success. I'm willing to help debug / ...

Re: Swiss Nightly Build

Oh, SD media launcher. I can't really help you much with that, all I can suggest is that you get a xenogc chip and use a Swiss disc to boot instead. It's hard to find good small cards anymore, let alone non-HC. I agree that does sound like a better solution as far as SWISS is concerned but there ar...

Re: Swiss Nightly Build

1) Disregard the readme, emukidid didn't review it that well before merging it. It's incomplete and full of misinformation. 2) Small cards are much more likely to fail because they're often slow/low quality for maximal cost savings, Patriot is also a cheap brand as far as I'm aware. Like I said, tr...

Re: Swiss Nightly Build

Cluster size is completely irrelevant to Swiss. Use FAT32 always. Also keep in mind that the whole thing is very sensitive to bad cards, and even fancy, expensive cards can fail on some occasions. If you've only tried two cards, you haven't tried enough cards. Get yourself a nice sandisk ultra card...

Re: Swiss Nightly Build

Action Replay doesn't even detect the card and let me launch it when its formatted FAT32 w/ 8192 bytes I forgot to ask: You tried to start the Swiss and then swapped the card for a FAT32 / 8192 with the ISOS. Along with SD Gecko (gray looking one) if you can. Just for curiosity. My apologies on not...

Re: Swiss Nightly Build

Action Replay doesn't even detect the card and let me launch it when its formatted FAT32 w/ 8192 bytes I'm using Fat32 / 8192 bytes on 4GB cards. On the 128GB card, the value is higher but I can not remember which one. I can not help you any more. One could say whether this detail is making the dif...

Re: Swiss Nightly Build

While I would normally agree with you, I've been trying just that (I've actually got a couple microSD to SD adapters as well - and those aren't working for me either). Two 4GB non-SDHC cards, and then two different SanDisk for Wii 2GB cards. None of them work. I wouldn't essentially be begging if I...

Re: Swiss Nightly Build

I have tested all four of mine and they all passed previously, but I'm not opposed to buying a new SD Card from a legit source if it means not running into this crazy issue. I'm really curious on a proper "SD" (note: not SDHC) card that everyone is working that actually allows them to run...

Re: Swiss Nightly Build

Nada unfortunately. Maybe this will help troubleshoot, but occasionally when I look at the swiss .dol on my SD Card, it will report 0kb in Windows... like something is corrupting it? My best guess is that something with SWISS is corrupting the SD Cards contents... I've tried two different SD Geckos...

Re: Swiss Nightly Build

I'll replicate your setup as best I can and see if I can also see the problem but it might just be that your card constantly needs to retry sector reads. The in game code in Swiss doesn't verify reads so that could be the problem. Hey emu_kidid, have you had a chance to replicate / attempt to repro...

Re: Swiss Nightly Build

The same thing happens on my 2GB non-SDHC card though, I guess that's the point I'm trying to make. Is there a reason why that might be? What information can I get you that might be helpful for you (or myself) to diagnose - if there is any sort of debugging I can enable I would gladly do it, not su...

Re: Swiss Nightly Build

It worked. Thank you so much. Great! Update: after testing unmounting and then remounting the same SD Card (4GB non-SDHC) it doesn't seem to have any sort of better compatibility, same issues exist. It's those pesky non-standard 4GB SDHC cards, I'm not going to bother trying to support them, they c...

Re: Swiss Nightly Build

Any tips or ideas on working with a non-SDHC Card? Thanks! Tell me more about your setup, particularly how you're booting Swiss? I worry that the Action replay/SDML disc inits the SD card and leaves it in some incompatible state, so could you try the following and report back if you're using Action...

Re: Swiss Nightly Build

I feel like I've just been posting issues a lot lately, and because of that- my apologies. But I've had a really hard time with game compatibility on my 2 GB and 4GB non-SDHC card. For example I can get some games to work just fine like Luigis Mansion and Harvest Moon - it seems like smaller sized g...

Re: Swiss Nightly Build

I've encountered a different problem, possible due to my misunderstanding of how boot.dol autolaunch is supposed to work. For example, I attempted to place the Snes9x GX boot.dol in the root of my SD card, but received this screen on boot with r416. I need to do more testing, but just had an opportu...
