Re: xeno gc still giving red light, may hav fkd up
Not only will the output be black and white on composite in 50hz mode with an ntsc console, but if your tv doesn't support 50hz signaling, it won't show anything. There's also the possibility that it's a poorly made clone that doesn't upload multiboot menu when you hold start. Shouldn't be a proble...

Re: xeno gc still giving red light, may hav fkd up
I'm looking at your install pictures, and you seem to have nudged the pull-up resistor for the reset pin (the one next to the "X" in Xen8) quite a bit. It looks like the resistor is being bypassed entirely and VCC is going straight to the reset pin. I don't think the microcontroller would ...

Re: Problem booting backups with xeno gc
No I don't know for certain but he sent my some copies he burnt. They didn't play either. I'm using phillips mini cd-r with a MID of CMC MAG. AF1. All burnt on 4x. Also attached a screenshot of imgburn. You must mean Mini-DVD-R. CMCMAGAF1 should be good, although they're noted to have a wide qualit...

Re: Problem booting backups with xeno gc
If I understand correctly, there are 3 Gamecube's in your story: The first GC you had a guy on Craigslist install a XenoGC, but it wouldn't read backups. The second GC you bought on eBay with a XenoGC installed and it wouldn't read backups either so you returned it. However, the seller showed you it...

Re: xeno gc still giving red light, may hav fkd up
From what I've seen, the XenoGC's marked "Xen8GC" all have two red LEDs which is incredibly unhelpful. thewheelman282 says in his youtube video that it's two slightly different shades of red, but I really beg to differ. If holding start while booting a retail disc gives you what you showed...

Re: Burning discs?
Yeah, I know. Stores never list the MID of the media they sell, and it's just a guessing game until you receive them, but you could try asking them by email. There's a thread here with reports of working media and where to buy them, but since most of the replies are from 2011-2014, a lot of it is li...

Re: Can homebrews return to Swiss?
mGBA: Exiting restarts the console. Try autoexec.dol Just tried it and it made mGBA load Swiss instead of restarting the console :). Sadly, it didn't help with the other homebrews. Wii homebrew returns by jumping to code (after checking for a matching check value) at 0x80001800, which is normally a...

Re: Can homebrews return to Swiss?
Well I haven't tried a lot of homebrew yet, but with those I have, I get the following behavior: Cube64: I hit "Quit" and get a confirmation message. Then it fades to black, and the Gamecube freezes. Not64: Same as Cube64, but it restarts the console instead of freezing. VBA GX: I hit &quo...

Can homebrews return to Swiss?
Some homebrews (e.g. GCMM or VBA-GX) have a "back to loader" feature, but when I hit it, it just makes my Gamecube freeze. I was hoping it would either reboot the console, or go back to Swiss. I guess it's only meant to work on Wii's with the Homebrew Channel, but why wouldn't it be remove...

Re: Burning discs?
Okay, I'm sorry I was a bit snarky. I just popped a burned copy of the Swiss ISO into my drive and it does show up as CDFS in Windows as well, which isn't the case with game backups. The "AML" MID is 3rd-class media according to digitalfaq (cheap, unreliable, or complete junk), so the chan...

Re: Burning discs?
You've put the ISO onto the disc as a file, haven't you? You need to burn it as an image! Windows simply sees the disc as an unknown format when it's done properly. Unknown Format.png In ImgBurn, choose "Write image file to disc", instead of "Write files/folders to disc". Then, s...

Re: Where to buy 8cm DVD-R/DVD+R GC-compatible discs these days
For Canadian folks, SourceRite has Philips, ProDisc and Ritek/RiData mini-DVD's (some of which are printable). The prices are pretty good, and not having to pay import and duties helps a lot. Plus, If you don't live in Ontario, you don't have to pay any provincial tax either. Philips 10pcs Full Logo...
