The best answer I have seen for ages! Respect!

I think we have to expect that on hardware nearly 20 years old. I haven't had that yet, only worn out lasers. Changed on 4 units this month alone.

Hmm, I've changed 10-15 lasers over the years and never had any problems. All of them ordered from China. Haven't had to desolder any wires either. Only thing I've done is to adjust the POT and thats it.

Sounds like there is some confusion about if the Qoob and Viper chips work on the Q. I know for a fact that at least Qoob Pro works. Because I've seen it in action. I was dealing with a guy that were selling his Q a while back. I went over to his place to have a look. And his Q booted into the Qoob ...

This modification was done by the shop where the previous owner bought it from. Lik-sang.com that no longer exists.

If you want the dvd-drive zonefree you have to solder more ram to the dvd board. Luckily my Panasonic Q has that modification.

The Xeno doesn't work on Panasonic Q. The reason is in the bios of the chip. The bios have to contain the spesific DVD-drive for it to work. Only the bios for Viper and Qoob has that info in the bios.
