Re: Wii Output

There are three things wrong in using a Wii this way: useless A/D conversion, upscaling in the "cable", re-upscaling in the TV. Try to use a good component cable, as this may come from the analog to digital conversion, also, the TV will process the appropriate upscaling to 4K in one step, which may ...

Re: Swiss on Wii Modchips?

A microcontroller, (or cpld) that is at the heart of what we call a "chip", is essentially designed to do whatever you want it to do. So provided it is powerfully enough for the task (fast, enough memory, needed peripherals and io), as long as you wire it the right way, give it the appropriate code ...

Re: Swiss on Wii Modchips?

I think the OP was asking about flashing SWISS on the Wii modchip to use on a GC, as there already are some ways to use gamecube games on the Wii that don't need a chip anymore (USBloader GX, Nintendon't, SWISS menu forwarder…).

Re: RTC not working?

I don't know how the GC works, but it is very unlikely that the time would have run while the unit was on, as this crystal makes it autonomous for the time count. Anyways, this kind of crystal is probably a 32KHz one that you may find for cheap or easily rip off any electronic stuff, wristwatch… But...

Re: anyone got any 3D glasses working with the cube?

ATI had wired 3D glasses back in the days, they were called ELSA, if i remember well. Maybe this will help. Do we know if analog sync signal is still active when progressive video modes are activated, if it is, we could get the even/odd signal extracted off it by a LM1881 or something in the flavor....

Re: RTC not working?

I consider Nintendo as a good hardware designer, so I won't change anything unless absolutely needed (such as restoring digital port and SP2 on DOL-101 units). When I'll be out of those bad 1616s, I'll get CR 2032 compartments and may even deport it or a standard connector to the SP2 hole, for ease ...

Re: RTC not working?

There may be enough room for something like a mini rc copter battery and the charging stuff in the back of the controller's daughterboard. But if something is shorted, it may be safe to check before, not to burn something, as the LiPo may provide more Amp to the components, unless a limiting device ...

Re: Splinter Cell Game Exploit

If you have 576p in a PAL game from boot, your GC may be hardmodded, if it is booted from SWISS, that's one of the features of it, for 50Hz only games such as FFCC, which is gorgeous, it's a way to enjoy crisp picture on recent TVs and your own language at the same time, beware of FPS or racing game...

Hello, and welcome. I'm not fond of JRPGs but have to admit the GC has had a good selection for that, despite the lack of FFL. Beware of wireless knockoffs, I've seen a video where the guy said he wasn't able to get a pair working without interfering in a way or another, for me, the absence of rumbl...

Re: RTC not working?

The settings RAM need so low power that you have the time to change the cell without losing them. I just changed the CR1616 in my black unit (yes, these are from a bad batch I have to deplete), and it showed 0,7 V after desoldering. Bad battery batch exists, and may be quite common, especially when ...

Re: Submit Compatibility Issues Here

I don't know if it's because of my dying battery (yes, once more, I got a bad battery batch…), or the exploit and boot forwarder (Dolauncher) that I use, but I can't load SWISS anymore, either from Exploit or IGR, when the microphone is plugged into Slot B. I wasn't sure I did before, but I have the...

No problem with US and EUR saves. It's lust that you can't keep the save and exploit together on the same card for a said game.

Re: Game Boy Interface

I actually boot standard GBI, the most current version, from a standalone disc I made, no Swiss. I have a XenoGC chip and can use custom-made discs. None of them specifically describe the proper 720x480p resolution that I need. SD card with Action Replay boot disc. You'd both better boot off from s...

Re: Game Boy Interface

Have a look at the Wiki, commands usage is well explained I guess, as I never dive into HF version tinkering. Stupid question but how do I set GBI to 480p? Is it a certain command that I append to the DOL? It depends how you load GBI, and what version you use. Typically, you set the options by hand ...

Re: Greetings from Malaysia!

Too bad they are not properly distributed all over the world, as for Malaysia, it would have been so easy to get the UK power bricks and any pal unit, what may be quite painful and expensive to gather. So you have TV sets quite similar to European ones (PAL/Secam, 220V/50Hz), maybe you even have SCA...

Re: Game Boy Interface

Very few TV sets support 240p through HDMI (even when they kinda support it on other input methods) so you have to set your GCVideo device to line-double 240p to 480p first. Then you may set GBI to output straight 480p.

Re: How to get proper EDTV output off Wii games in 2020?

If my understanding is good, it's the official Wii SDK that mess up with pixel data in 480p, so that every one inhérits a part of the previous's data. If you have noticeably much noisy output in 480p than in 480i, your cable may be bad. Also, the Wii has the reputation to have weak outputs, some mor...

Welcome here! I see you use a NTSC Cube, and UK power supply, it's quite unusual. Wasn't the GameCube officially distributed in your country? Was it NTSC or PAL? I also see you play Taxi3, that is one of the few PAL exclusive games, and said to be the worse GameCube driving game, from what I read an...

Re: Help to diagnose possible lens failure

Try to rip your own OG discs to play from an SD (with CleanRip), you'll get longer laser lifespan, quieter console, no disc swap, no risk of disk damaging (I killed my SMS disc just by dropping it). IMHO, it's really worth it! As you have three memcards for each console region, the exploit won't nee...

Re: How to get proper EDTV output off Wii games in 2020?

It may be a little better, as the signal won't have to support any useless conversion, but not the best, as the Wii's 480p (for Wii Games) still needs a software patch. GC mode should be OK in 480p, while not as good as the full digital signal transmission from the source to the output the GC is cap...

Sure, it's not a bad idea to get an ODE and/or a backup unit as long as they are available and not too expensive, even if you don't use them au the moment.

Re: Help to diagnose possible lens failure

Booting off a Datel disc proved to be hasardous, on the long-term. Time to set up a game exploit, and save the pot tweak for later (and don't risk the lens to totally die faster, this way), no need to touch this risky part as long as you can boot original discs just fine. You can at least try to dus...

Info about the whole config and settings would be welcome, since as a default, you're supposed to just boot your console with the Game's disc, which way it will never show such glitch. Are you sure of the naming of swiss.dol your plugin expects to boot?
There are so many flavors around, autoexec, boot, IPL, iplboot maybe? Whatever…

Booting from a chip is supposed to be the fastest and easiest way to boot homebrew, isn't there any howto?
