Ok, I misread that. By lower read speed I thought it meant lower time to read, rather than lower speed on the read. It was clear I just didn't process the words right lol.

I've seen in the recent release notes that nkit iso would have faster read emulation time than iso, which makes sense. However, does this affect anything? My collection is currently in nkit.iso format, but would fit on the same cards in full .iso format. Would that increase compatibility? Just wonde...
