Re: Wii Disc drive spoof. Need help Emu_kid/Mega/Ashen???

Yeah the point it to reduce any additional components. Even is a disc spoofer was made I would still rewire the ffc port directly to the via's because I'm going to cut it off. More work yes but the point of this trimming is purely for development to see how small it can be made. As for the wiimote. ...

Re: Wii Disc drive spoof. Need help Emu_kid/Mega/Ashen???

Wii cIOS works by initializing the discdrive then loading in the iso to boot the game. Then after that there is no communication with the discdrive (hense why I can remove it and the game still plays). But it seems there must be a discdrive present for the boot up. The right signals need to be sent ...

Re: Wii Disc drive spoof. Need help Emu_kid/Mega/Ashen???

Just spoke with Fix94 on gbatemp irc and it seems it might be possible for the disc check in wiiflow to be removed however he says that he hasn't been active with wiiflow in 2 years and that to remove it is not easy. He didn't comment yet on if he will bother trying so might never happen. I'll be in...

Re: Wii Disc drive spoof. Need help Emu_kid/Mega/Ashen???

Yeah I was also thinking about that but I doubt it would be possible and still work. I assume it is needed to check for the disc and insert the iso when it is reading from discdrive.

Where can I find FIX94?

Re: Wii Disc drive spoof. Need help Emu_kid/Mega/Ashen???

Good idea! Just check it. Loaded a wii game via wiiflow with a wasp modchip connected and game boots up fine. Then in game I carefully removed the modchip ribbon cable from the wii. Game kept running and was fully playable. Even when I press home buttons and reset game title it just boots the game l...

Re: Wii Disc drive spoof. Need help Emu_kid/Mega/Ashen???

Thanks for the info. As far as I know only wii loaders do a disc check. Gamecube loaders like nintendont work perfectly fine without a anything connected to the discdrive port. I also believe it to be a set of pins that have to be either pull up or down voltages wise to make the wii think it has a d...

Re: Wii Disc drive spoof. Need help Emu_kid/Mega/Ashen???

Yeah you only need to connect the disc drive mainboard and you are good to go. A wasp will work aswell. But the whole point is to not connect anything so I can make the board smaller and cut away unneeded components.

Wii Disc drive spoof. Need help Emu_kid/Mega/Ashen???

So I am busy with a tiny wii board cut. As of yet I have been able to cut it pretty small while still retaining all of it's functions. Also been able to power it off a custom regulator, 3.3v and 1.2v. See my facebook album for pics on the discovery. https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.93834114...

Re: Cloning the GameCube component cable

@Unseen Awesome work man!! Been gone for awhile. My first batch of the original gcvideo are still working perfectly. I think I will also try this one out. I had a quick question though. It is possible to code the pluto board to work for the n64 like your original board did but then with line doublin...

I cut down the original heatsink and added a small fan beside it then sealed the heatsink and fan together so that it sucks air in from one side and blows it out the other

Re: The CurvyCube

Thanks guys!! No your hands won't cover because you don't wrap your hand around the back. Only a few fingers might get close to the vents.

I have played on this thing for hours on end and have had no issues whatsoever.

Re: Cloning the GameCube component cable

I'm afraid I don't have any tools to analyze the signals. I'm going to flash another board I have and try it on a different n64 and see what happens. Good to know that I'm safe with the way it's wired up right now. Once I have sorted out everything I'll post my results. @Mega have you already tried ...

Re: Cloning the GameCube component cable

Anyone tested the n64 flash file yet? I have flashed my board and wired it to the n64 as mentioned but on my 15khz compatible screen I get a white screen. When I load donkey kong I get a white screen then it boots up with a video signal and then after the Rare logo it goes back to a white screen aga...

Re: Cloning the GameCube component cable

Yes I can confirm that it is working identical to the original MX chip. On PAL and NTSC console. I have tested almost all my games, homebrew etc.. and it works the same. Quality is the same as far as I can see with my bare eyes and it will also works with only 1 ground line. I have it connected now ...

Re: Cloning the GameCube component cable

Alright so I have compiled my first board. However I have zero experience in programing a FPGA board. When I use the regular programming mode with the .jed file I get this error: Device#1 LCMXO2-640HC: Failed to verify the ID (Expected: 0x012B9043 Read: 0x00000000). ERROR - Check configuration setup...

Holy crap!!! This is some awesome shit!!! Time to make some of these for myself. Thank you so much for sharing all your files and info. :D

Could you also make a pic of the back of the board? Just to get a clear image of what the total setup looks like.

Re: Research on output progressive signals by MultiAV Port

Hmm interesting information. How have you wired up the gamecube to your monitor? Have you got a sync splitter on the composite line wired to c sync? or have you wired it directly? Maybe a bit more accurate information on you hookup would be great. I have also realized the same thing that the multi p...

Re: MegaCube - worklog

The panasonic cube uses a regular gc board but a different disc interface. I'm not using anything of the original parts as most of it is not working. Also the slotloading discdrive is very bulky. Going with the wii drive will make things easier. I will also be using a older style wiidrive which wil ...
