Re: XenoGC Full Source Code
Got 1.01 flashed using Swiss after half a dozen attempts. The first try looked like it worked perfectly but rendered the Xeno GC inoperative (no LEDs), so I went searching in vain for the serial programmer I built a few years ago. Thankfully I also have a Viper GC Extreme, so I was able to use that...

Re: No Audio after XenoGC install
Although I don't know all of the intricacies, it doesn't seem to me that a XenoGC installed on the drive board could have an effect on the audio output (which is on the main PCB). If the GC is booting backups, that proves that the XenoGC is working properly. Perhaps the cause of the lack of audio is...

Re: Unable to play backups
When testing, what I do is try fairly high and low resistance values on the laser, note the results, then narrow down incrementally in an effort to home in on the best solution. Some lasers have a wider "sweet spot", while others read reliably over a relatively broad range. Some lasers rea...

Re: Unable to play backups
... Pretty sure it's my burner, I have two old pioneer burners in a pentium 4 rig but they are IDE only so I'd have to set that machine up just for burning discs. Not worth it. FWIW, in my experience older IDE Pioneer DVD/CD burners are high quality and work very well for burning Gamecube discs. I ...

Re: Wii Or Gamecube
For gamecube games: GC Component > Wii Component > RGB Scart > GC/Wii composite = GC/Wii S-Video GC S-video looks noticeably sharper than GC/Wii composite. A Wii essentially becomes a Gamecube upon entering Gamecube mode. The hardware is set to Gamecube specifications and all Wii functions, like wi...

Re: Wii Or Gamecube
Although I generally prefer Gamecube games, the Wii is a more practical and convenient console for me as it works with USB loaders (Nintendont) and has an inexpensive component output which works well with my Trinitron. I'd say that Wii component looks considerably better than the Gamecube's composi...

Re: Viper GC
I've had a Viper GC Extreme for many years along with an IcedCube case. Although the Viper is a powerful modchip, I've found it somewhat unreliable for creating backups and it seems a little worse than a XenoGC for reading them. As far as the IcedCube case goes, I added some washers to lift up the D...

Re: XenoGC Help - At my wits end lol
How is the chip soldered in? If soldered directly over CN302, I would very cautiously and quickly reheat the various points, testing after each one to see if there is any change. There is a danger of bridging connections with solder if not careful (especially underneath the top two contact points PW...

Re: Gamecube lens and potentiometer
So, the best value is 0 ohms??? (considering the 150 resistor) There is no universal best value for the laser potentiometer. There are too many other variables involved. I have modded several Gamecubes and they all required different laser adjustments for most reliable disc reading. That is why it ...

Re: Gamecube lens and potentiometer
In my experience, there is no substitute for trial and error testing. Different burners, different media, and different lasers, will require different laser potentiometer values for most reliable disc reading. Try adjusting higher and lower to see if there is improvement or not. Some fussy drives ha...
Re: Xeno GC
The laser might read DVD-RW if you're very lucky and set the potentiometer just right, though I would not count on it. DVD-R is a much better choice.

Re: Gotten my hope back, but still suffering xenogc n media
We know that your modchip is working. That's good. That leaves media type, write speed, DVD burner, and the laser pot, as variables. My own experience with the Gamecube suggests that it is rather picky about reading burned discs. I just installed a new laser in mine and it is still much less reliabl...

Re: Wii DVD Drive into a Gamecube
Hmm, how would I program the Xeno though? I found a site that sells a SunKey drivechip.. says something about having a GC audio fix.. for $15, I'm thinking it might be worth a try. mega, do you include the ffc cable from the wasp to the Wii drive in your megadrive kits? The XenoGC Clone page explai...

Re: Wii DVD Drive into a Gamecube
The Wiikey v1 and XenoGC use the same basic circuit (except the Xeno has a pair of status LEDs). So, a DIY or retail XenoGC can be flashed with the Wiikey hex and turned into a Wiikey, which should be able to patch the drive for Gamecube backups with working audio streaming. I'll bet it can even rea...

Re: Wii DVD Drive into a Gamecube
if all you want is a GC with Wii drive then all you need is MEGAdrive no wasp needed http://www.badassconsoles.com/megadrive-v5/ If just connecting a Wii drive, all you would need are the data/power/switch connections. Would this work? From what I understand, the Gamecube reads discs at 3x while th...

Re: XenoGC Full Source Code
Not sure where to post this question... I have an NTSC Gamecube with a Xeno GC v2.0 with the PAL 1.05 shell. The shell is useless, so I'd like to flash it with an earlier firmware. Assuming the Xeno is put into reset/programming mode, can this be done booting with SDLoad (or Swiss) on DVD-R and flas...

Re: Need Help fixing my Broken Component Cable / Useing MX C
The second video cable may come in handy for checking continuity of the circuit on the messed up board. Did you try to remove the MX chip from the board; it looks like it because the chip is at an angle? One trick I use to remove SMDs is to drop a large blob of solder across all the pins on each sid...

Re: Need Help fixing my Broken Component Cable / Useing MX C
Step away from that soldering iron before you kill again.
It can probably be brought back to life, but will require a very delicate touch. Either brush up on soldering skills before attempting a repair or have someone with SMD experience do it.
