Re: Wii ISO Booter for GC
Hey Tripo, I just wrote this really great work around for playing Wii games on a Gamecube. I swear it works, can you plz test and get back to us? 1. Trim a Wii game so it fits in a Gamecube 2. Put the Wii game in a Gamecube 3. Hold the Gamecube in your outstretched hands 4. Hold your breath and spin...

Re: Swiss vs SD-Boot
One question. I believe you asked at least two. Emu_kidid is working towards making Swiss an all-in-one program for gamecube homebrew. It is a complete rewrite of the sd-boot code, but for your purposes it's a newer version of the same program. It has newer features and supports additional devices ...

Re: 1GB SD cards which FAT Filesystem?
I assume this question is open to the floor, so if you're running windows you can find it in the system information tool under Components > Storage > Disks > Bytes/sector. EDIT - I swear this is the only thing that this tool has ever been useful for. Every time I reinstall I have to associate nfo fi...

Re: Formatting HDD's
No, afaik the addressing limit with FAT32 is 8TiB with 32KiB clusters. Because the boot sector uses a 32-bit field for the sector count this limits volume size to 2 TiB on a hard disk with 512 byte sectors. It hasn't got anything to do with 48-bit LBA. Swiss does support 48-bit LBA because without i...

Re: Compatible HDD's
Has anyone tried a SSD with this? I had a thought about using one in a gc case mod, since it's smaller than a 3.5" HDD but should give good performance like a 7200rpm HDD.
Re: Swiss 0.1
I gave up and booted a disc on my other cube with a xenogc. Still, pretty impressed with the quality of Swiss.
Finally tried the ide-exi adapter as well. Thanks very much for all the effort you put into your software emu_kidid.

Re: Swiss 0.1
Damn, I was searching for that for ages. I'd given up. This should work lol. EDIT - spoke too soon :( DOLPAK does not work. EDIT2 - Might as well list the details of the issue, in case someone else knows how to fix it. - Loading swiss unmodified using dvd, flash or usb on cobra 2.1 results in the cu...
Re: Swiss 0.1
Disregard that, I've just been trying to get it working for dvd/flash/usb loading on cobra and it didn't work. re running dollz on vista/7: seems like you can run it under windows xp mode (ie the full virtual machine) on windows 7 pro, but it doesn't work on compatibility mode. Just tried it. It alw...
Re: Swiss 0.1
You'll need to use softdev's dollz with the -v option to "fix" swiss for loading on cobra bios. Reason is that dol loading is broken in cobra. You can get dollz from the utilities section. I think you'll need a windows xp computer though, it seems to be crashing on my windows 7 one

Yeah, get a Qoob Pro or Viper GC Extreme if you can. You need one of those two in order to store sizeable homebrew programs on the chip.

Re: Swiss feature requests
iirc, back in the day loaders were limited by protocol overhead and they could only get the bba to work at 10Mbps. I'm not sure if that's changed. Also, EXI bus = 27Mbps (?) so there's your theoretical maximum.

I just read you're looking at DMA on the IDE-EXI, that would be freakin awesome since I guess that it would go a long way in eliminating audio stutter in some games?

Re: Swiss feature requests
yes this would be great, so you can upload the games over FTP directly to your hdd connected with the ide-exi thingy I gotta say that although using an FTP server to copy games to hdd would be possible, it'd be slow as hell since the IDE-EXI still operates in PIO mode. It's so much quicker to just ...

Re: Recommended SATA -> IDE Adapters
I think you're experiencing the visual effects of a ground loop. It's the equivilent of the low freqency hum that you get in poorly grounded audio systems. Stray currents from the adapter PSU are flowing through the video cable to the ground on your TV. This really shits me because it's hard to fix ...

Re: XCM Viper full size case question
Use the USB flasher. Only the ribbon cable needs to be plugged in for the viper flash tool.
You're right about the ports that came with the xcm case though. They're only for the Qoob Pro.

Re: Looking for an external writer to burn some backups!
If you can't get a Pioneer drive where you are, some others to consider are Samsung, BenQ or LG. Those ones will also do a good job making backups. Avoid Panasonic/Matsushita like the plague. Datawrite sounds like just a brand name to me. I've never used them, but there's a fair chance that they wil...

Re: Looking for an external writer to burn some backups!
Any DVD writer will do the job. If you'd like your backups to last longer then that's when you'll want a good DVD writer and quality media. Get a Pioneer if you can. I have several Pioneer writers including a slimline one (DVR-K06, might not be sold anymore) that I have used in a USB case and they a...
