Re: Cloning the GameCube component cable

I believe the only current target board is the Pluto IIx HDMI from knjn- http://www.knjn.com/ShopBoards_RS232_Parallel.html I never heard anyone specifically say if the company would pre-flash the board before selling it to you, so you probably need an Altera USB Blaster, a clone of it, or some othe...

Re: Cloning the GameCube component cable

Well to be clear Mega is working on a pre-assembled version of it to be sold. Unseen developed it and you can buy an FPGA dev board and flash and install it in your Gamecube right now if you wanted to. Both will require soldering experience, though Mega's should be easier to do. He also supposedly h...

Re: Game Boy Interface

You can make the original GBP boot disc zoom to fill the screen completely. It just looks like trash is all. Use the regular version if you want zooming, the LL and ULL versions don't have a framebuffer to allow for it (well, maybe the LL version, not sure). You could also use your CRTs service menu...

Re: Cloning the GameCube component cable

Somebody better get to work on a neural interface for Melee, all our fingers have way too much input lag! Unseen is humoring you, but I won't- you're grasping at microscopic straws. Nobody should waste their time using an oscilloscope on this if the purpose is to find out if it affects your Smash pl...

Re: Cloning the GameCube component cable

The DAC encoding the Gamecube's digital signal into NTSC composite is likely slower than the digital version of the GCVideo. It's a fool's errand- 1 frame in 60fps is roughly 16 milliseconds, anything GCVideo or the internal DAC or the MX chip in the component cable is doing is happening on the orde...

Re: Cloning the GameCube component cable

Maybe 12 scanlines. I don't think it would even be possible to design it to take 12 frames, that's ridiculous. By video encoders you mean the DAC converters? Encoder ICs are limited by transistor gate delays which are influenced by the speed of electrons flowing through a conductor. I'm not sure you...

Re: Game Boy Interface

I would do a little more research by asking people who are using it with a Framemeister- first things first, do the people that use one with an LCD experience the wobble without it? The big thing is I hear a lot about input framerate locking and other such Framemeister settings. It's very likely the...

Re: Game Boy Interface

LCD's don't like the off-spec refresh rate the low-lag versions output. That's just an unfortunate truth- they're pretty much only meant to be used on a CRT.

What do you think converting to VGA and upscaling will get you?

Re: Game Boy Interface

Just because this reminded me, will the GBA controller feature work on either of the low-lag versions as well? I know speedrunners would enjoy the best of both worlds, but considering that (I think) it has to send some sort of software to the GBA, it may not be possible to get inputs in time without...

Re: Game Boy Interface

I used the HomeBros method to get access to this software and it is very impressive! However, I've got two issues that I feel need fixing. First, there is a slight screen distortion that occasionally pops up. The screen distortion appears and it takes about a few minutes for it to go away. But arou...

Re: Game Boy Interface

You either get fancy framebuffer features and some lag (probably still less than the regular GBP boot disc), or you get a minimally-sized framebuffer, less lag, and no fancy features. The blurry movement in the regular version is the framerate conversion, i.e. converting the GBA's output to the disp...

Re: Game Boy Interface

The ULL version does not work with S-Video and presumably not with composite either. I asked about it several pages back and Extrems addressed the issue.

EDIT: Well, doesn't work in the sense that there's no chroma data.

Re: Game Boy Interface

YES, that worked. I transferred the ULL file aswell at the same time, both produce great, pretty much identical pictures, but what are the reason for both of them to exist? And i'm a little disappointed that it isn't possible to zoom in and out plus drag the picture in any of those versions. instea...

Re: Game Boy Interface

Ah thanks, it finally worked! However, weren't the games also supposed to look better? I did a comparison, and they actually look worse! The duplicate frame problem is gone, but i'm not sure if it's worth sacrificing that if the games gonna look as washed out blurry gray as they do with this mod. H...

Re: Game Boy Interface

Their HDTV handles LL version 240p properly and fine via composite. They did the 240p tests and I verified it correctly handles 240p. They don't want to spend extra on a XRGB or component cables. No zooming options though, only 4:3 or 16:9. The LL version is different, hence my assumption that s/he...

Re: Game Boy Interface

Also my friend has a TV that has no zooming abilities and is using the ULL version, is it possible to output 160p instead of 240p. I know this would be a non-standard video signal, would any TV actually be able to handle that resolution? What's your friend's setup? If they're on a CRT you could go ...

@donhonk, What's the issue with it? Also, does anyone know if a DOL file of the Gameboy Player Startup Disc is available? I do like a lot of it's features vs GBI like different boarders. Dunno if Im weird but I way prefer having Gameboys "B" on the Snes controllers "Y" and Gameb...

Re: Cloning the GameCube component cable

A combined version could most likely only result in unused features and extra parts costs for the majority of people.... ...
