Re: Hack 480p support into Mega Man 9/10
Like I said, I only had trouble when I installed a cIOS before. Good luck getting support when your issue involves one, as Wii homebrew communities ban any discussion related to them.

That's just what they call it so they don't look bad. Very few people use it for actual back-ups instead of pirated copies they downloaded from the web.iamdablasta wrote:And it's not piracy, it's backuping.

Re: Hack 480p support into Mega Man 9/10
I've only had bad experiences with piracy-related IOSs. There shouldn't be any need for them, either! The required priviledges can be gotten by memory patching. WiiLoader does it.

Re: Using the Nintendo Wifi USB dongle as a soft AP
I figured it out thanks to a warning message that Windows pops up when you try to enable Internet Connection Sharing on an interface that has static IP settings. The IP address of the wireless connection has to become and remain 192.168.0.1. I always changed it so it was 192.168.3.1, as my Ethernet ...

Re: Hack Wii save files
Someone on another board suggested the same thing. It wouldn't help, though. This isn't something that's shared with all Wii save files; it's game-specific. At any rate, I'm not going to bother putting more effort into this. The reason I bothered in the first place is that I thought the clear save d...

Using the Nintendo Wifi USB dongle as a soft AP
It's possible to use the Nintendo Wifi USB dongle as a soft AP. That means that you can use it for any device; no just the Wii and the DS. In my case, I'd like to use it with my PSP. No matter how much I try, though, I can't get it to work using the guide you can find. I get as far as having my PSP ...

Re: Hack Wii save files
Still no idea how to figure out the checksum. I've ran some checksum algorithms on the file using HxD, but none of them match. One option would be to use Dolphin in tandem with a debugger, but my computer isn't powerful enough for that.

Re: Hack Wii save files
The second set of 8 bytes (00 60 62 8d d6 69 07 68 in the first file) is the time the file was saved, in CPU ticks; divide it by 60750000 and it should give the number of seconds since 1 Jan 2000. Whoops, those are eight bytes, not four bytes; my mistake. At any rate, thanks for clearing that up. T...

Re: Hack Wii save files
What puzzles me most right now are the first eight bytes. Here is a binary comparison between two save files taken between 7 seconds of each other: http://i.imgur.com/BuC2uzB.png I think the first four bytes are some kind of checksum, and the next four bytes some kind of date (based on seeing the va...

Re: Hack Wii save files
Anyone have any tips for reverse engineering save files? All kinds of values change even after having bought an item. Some of it is obviously position data. What I'm trying to find is the value that identifies a save file as being loaded with bonuses awarded after the game finds a clear save of the ...

Re: Hack Wii save files
It seems like these days "Windows port" really means "we packed it in a .NET project". AARGH Actually, to be fair, it's the updated version of the port made by WiiCrazy that .NET-ified it. Having many cIOS for various purposes isn't a bad thing you know They're frequently linked...

Apparently this tool called "tachtig" (80 in Dutch, what the heck?) does also decrypt them. But you have to compile it yourself, along with "twintig" (20 in Dutch). What a pain.

Hack Wii save files
Is there some documentation about the Wii's save files or an application that can process them? I'd like to edit the save file of one of the Wii games I have, but from the limited documentation I found , it's encrypted. But seeing as Dolphin knows how to create them, surely someone knows about the f...

Re: Swiss Nightly Build
I have a PAL TV that can do both 50 and 60Hz and I was experimenting with RE1 PAL. When I forced it to NTSC, the image on the TV went out of sync and started rolling vertically. When the game asked if I wanted to force 60Hz I said "yes" and the image stabilised immediately. So, just for t...

Nintendo isn't going to brick your Wii U. At most they'll try to delete the Homebrew Channel and block its installation.

I can't. WiiLauncher is based on Gecko OS, and Gecko OS's website is WiiRd, where I've been declined membership.emu_kidid wrote:I'm not sure, but I'd look into why it's failing to patch when using patchers that work on other Wiiware software and ask those authors to look into it.

I did not use Swiss. What made you think that GameCube software can force 480p on WiiWare software?
I used WiiLauncher, which can load channels without needing patched IOSs.
