Re: Game Boy Interface

  • Changed brightness/contrast controls to match BT.1886.
This remove the need to spam "--input-gamma=1. --output-gamma=1.", reducing user confusion.

Re: Game Boy Interface

I don't know about Drill Dozer, but Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga is notorious in the speedrunning community for performance issues even with the Game Boy Player Start-up Disc.

I've now documented the enhancements on the wiki, even if this isn't specific to Game Boy Interface.

Are you sure? Usually lower gamma = darker picture.
I'm absolutely sure.

I just copied what was in the example CLI file
The example mimics the Game Boy Player Start-up Disc.

If the option isn't grayed out in Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga, they are enabled. Do you have something in the link port?

Re: Game Boy Interface

I thought there were hotkeys on the first post the last time I visited, but either I imagined it, or they are gone now. They were moved to the wiki. Also, does the pre-compiled GCI version support the LUTs? Or do I have to burn it to disc or get an SD adapter? They can only be loaded from an SD car...

You can fix it by using the 3D-only option.

Re: Game Boy Interface

I said to try 720x1080i (--format=hd60 --scan-mode=non-progressive), not 960x720i. Nor did I say to change the scaling filter.

I don't normally use televisions, so I'm going out of my way here.

Thanks for that, loving this software. It seems some GBA games auto-exec as well. I was able to insert Metroid Fusion to dump, but inserting Metroid Zero Mission triggers execution. Don't hotswap cartridges. Hold Start + Select on the Game Boy logo with the cartridge inserted. Also, not having luck...

Re: Game Boy Interface

NIce. High Fidelity with 360p. Thanks Extrems! It doesn't have temporal interpolation though. And since it's exactly 60 Hz, you get worse judder than ever. I'm considering adding a closer matching format, but the parameter space isn't looking too appealing to me. I could not get this version of Spe...

Extrems, I noticed in the current package download, the Framemeister driver has bad color bleed compared to the beta one you sent me a couple weeks ago. Re: Game Boy Interface

You have a pretty strange idea of GBI's features. "all post-processing (like scaling and filters) are gone to minimize input lag" is also bogus. The speedrunning edition is also, by far, the closest to the Game Boy Player Start-up Disc.

Re: Game Boy Interface

You shouldn't read too deeply into the output at 27(54) MHz. The required clock and clock select line don't run up to the AVE-DOL.

Re: Game Boy Interface

-Polling rate - by default, this is set to "1". Does this mean 1000 Hz? By which we mean that it polls for a controller input 1000x per second. So if I set to 2, it would be 2000 Hz, and 0 would be... it never polls? This is described in the DCP. 0 = VSync (2x), the GameCube's default and most comp...

So it seems the clock is slightly off, evidenced also by the gbi HUD occasionally switching rapidly between 59.99 and 60.01.
Disregard that, that's caused by Game Boy Player interrupts taking too long.

Re: Game Boy Interface

I have tried 960x360 with a crappy RGB cable and indeed it does not work. My guess is the Gamecube does not output composite video in 27Mhz mode. If it did, you wouldn't need the component cables for 480p. I'm looking for the absolute best, pixel-perfect quality that I can get. That's not enough in...

I noticed there is some vertical bleed when using something other than --scaler=nearest
It's rounding errors in texture sampling exaggerated by the linear RGB rendering. I've added a preset to the wiki.

Changed scan mode semantics. For standard edition: Added 720i and 1080i video modes. https://files.extremscorner.org/gamecube/screenshots/gbi960x720i60.png 960x720i60.08: --format=hd60 --scan-mode=interlace,clock2x,size2x 720x1080i60: --format=hd60 --scan-mode=non-progressive Now you can get excited.
