Re: Building a portable GC: Need options other than DVD
ot, has anyone seen that video with the penguins on the wiikey website? lmao when I first saw it. EDIT - Just had a look at a yt video of the wiikey fusion booting. It seems to use a GC loader as well. Maybe not as quick to respond as the WODE or Sundriver though. From a few forum posts I've seen I ...

Re: Building a portable GC: Need options other than DVD
I'm guessing that solution won't support streaming audio though, will it? I imagine it would be pretty hard to solder cause both products use a flat flexible cable to connect to the Wii mainboard. Not trying to be a wowser here, but I think you'll need mad soldering skills to do it. Better than mine...

Re: Building a portable GC: Need options other than DVD
Do you really think it's possible to wire up a WODE or Sundriver to a GC? I mean they're intended for Wii... But then I don't really know that much about them. How similar are the dvd interfaces on the Wii and GC anyway?

Re: sd-boot 1.0
I remember how you could flash GCOS to your modchip (viper extreme and qoob pro) and boot your gamecube straight into GCOS. I did it once myself. Will the next sd-boot have that ability? I would probably use it instead of cobra 2.1 on my viper extreme, because your feature list so far is much better...

Re: SD-boot tutorial for Wii
I think the original version was just made to fit into the serial port cover but it actually connects to the memory card port. Check out emu_kidid's version on page 4 of that thread. His plugs into the memory card slot.

Re: SD-boot tutorial for Wii
It should work for the Wii too if you have software that will support it. So far only a modified sdboot 0.3 from the original author of the device has support for it.

Yeah, I'm fairly sure that's what the homebrew HDD adapter basically does but it's IDE -> SD. Check the news forum.

Yeah in a way. Just checked the manual and it says that skins only work on the Viper GC Extreme. The bios itself should work on both though.
EDIT - first post updated.

Re: Gamecube Laser Tweak
I don't shrink my Gamecube games because I don't think you gain anything in terms of compatibility but I may be wrong. The really weird sound you mention on startup might be because gcmutility is applying a streaming audio fix (?) but the xenogc already has a streaming audio fix. This happened to me...

Re: Gamecube Laser Tweak
It's more a matter of working out which value will work well for the media you're using on your particular Gamecube. Some of the most compatible media is RITEKF1 and RITEKG04/G05 (many different brands). These work with a large range of pot values. I'm using MCC 03RG20 (16x Verbatim branded -R) at t...

Re: SD Boot 1.0? new features?
I got some of those wiikey SD adapters off eBay for like $2 each from Hong Kong. Pretty sure they're fakes but they work with my gc and wii. Maybe yours is faulty or you're doing something wrong.

Re: Homebrew HDD adapter for Gamecube Tutorial
Do you know which components are used specifically? I might be able to have a go at making a pcb for it, and my old high school has the gear to fabricate pcbs. Or rather they had last time I checked, they were downsizing their electronics program, the bastards. I would rather not have to use surface...

Re: Metroid Other M
Yeah, I found that after playing it through I liked the story a bit better. Or disliked it less lol. I liked what was trying to be done, the execution just sucked. I just think it needed tweaking to be more in line with the classic Metroid hallmarks. I reckon if Samus got there and everyone was dead...

Re: Cobra 2 Themes
Here's the themes that used to be hosted on tehskeen. I think that was all of them, it was a pretty small web page if I remember correctly. Lucky how when I fill a hard drive I rarely delete things, I just buy a new hard drive and store the old one

Re: Metroid Other M
I finished the game about a week ago (got it the day after it came out). It was my least favourite Metroid game, and not a very good game overall in my opinion. A lot of people will probably disagree with me. I disliked the way Samus is portrayed in the two hours (indeed you can watch them through a...
Re: DVD+R
To answer your original question, both the Gamecube and Wii will read DVD+R only if you bitset them to DVD-ROM. So you need a burner that supports bitsetting.

Got mine today. Installed one already. It seems that they sent the top half of the xcm case and the bottom half of the icedcube case. I definately ordered the icedcube :? Oh well, cbf trying to sort it out, since the wait time on shipping would be killer. I'm going to see if I can take the gearing o...

I worked on the static (no pseudo-animation) version of the theme to get it under 128k for ViperGC users. It's about 119k.

Re: Cobra 2 Themes
Thanks emu_kidid. I dunno if it warrants it's own forum for just Cobra themes, but I'm sure there lots of other homebrew apps on GC and Wii that can be themed, so I think it'd be cool if you made a generic theming or skinning forum. I've got some more ideas, and I'll probably port them all for the Q...

Re: H4M video file format
I think that the best option you have is to give the dol executable a shot in Dolphin and then dump an avi from there. Or use screen capture if dolphin can't do that (I can't remember). Last option would be to actually play the movies you want on your gamecube and use a video capture device. EDIT - ...

Re: if i wanted to hack a n64 game rom would it be complicat
I think you'd be better off to just make a fan game for PC or another platform because it's considerably easier to develop for than the N64. And you can make it how you want from scratch.
