Re: question about s-video
3 won't work. There's no signal to use, Gamecube doesn't output analog component.
4 is unlikely. You'd need a TV who accepts s-video in its component input.

Out of curiosity... PAL color encoding mod for NTSC GC
Has this been attempted? I don't myself need it. I've got a component cable and XRGB mini.
I'd just earlier tried my NTSC system's composite at 50hz (Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles), results in grayscale.

Re: Mario Tennis (JPN) & region mode
Its bottom outside edge has one small dent.
Dumping the game on wii doesn't look difficult. If nothing else getting an iso is nice, can't try a backup without it.

That'd take a while. I don't know much about the characters.

Re: Mario Tennis (JPN) & region mode
The game's progressive scan option appears too. Forgot about that. US GC needs a region switch for the Japanese bios (opposite for JP GC). Wii I haven't tried much. Think it takes a more extensive softmod than mine. On GC anyway, things like freeloader and modchips load imports without changing the ...

Mario Tennis (JPN) & region mode
Anyone know if Mario Tennis Japan version supports consoles set to other languages? I'm using an original import. No luck on either Freeloader, Action Replay, a chipped US GC, or softmod US Wii. Shows the Wario and Waluigi startup logos (without sound or animation) than gives an error message in Jap...

gba games are exactly 240 wide. little room for overscan if 240p output.Drakon wrote:Doesn't the gamecube need to be in the higher res so it can stretch the image properly to fill the screen?

Re: 240p for Game Boy Player
Perhaps we're confusing NTSC version Zelda Collection, with the PAL version?
I don't currently own either but it seems more likely NTSC copies would use 480p in progressive mode. Not 240p.

Re: Curious Text Issue
Interesting. I thought that'd affect just PAL games, and only in-game.
Never heard of the NTSC menu itself having languages other than English and Japanese.
Or a software method to switch between those.

Me too. Someday no more DAC, let's harness that elusive YCbCr.

Re: Help choosing mod path
Also keep in mind mod chips will not enable Japanese system language. For that you still need to use the region switch mod on US consoles (I don't believe it's possible for PAL). A number of JPN games have glitches if run under English setting. Corrupt text, memory card trouble, etc. Even some US ga...

Re: Gamecube component cable
So what's the issue with HDMI? We know DOL-001 outputs digital audio/video by a single connector. And YCbCr from HDMI input is supported by certain TVs, as Xbox 360 demonstrates. Likely covering both those obvious bases.
