Re: Streetwalrus's first GameCube
I don't really plan on doing anything with it though, there are better entry points to work on than the drive's debug connector (IPL replacement, ODE).

Re: Streetwalrus's first GameCube
It's just a build of iplboot, if it actually works then it should load ipl.dol from your SD card without needing to use a homebrew disc (it does need a disc in the drive to work though).

Re: Swiss Nightly Build
It'd be more helpful for debugging to know the exact version of the game (region, revision if any, ISO checksum is even better).

I like your WKF build, also nice job with the custom adapters.

Re: Where to buy 8cm DVD-R/DVD+R GC-compatible discs these days
The problem with taobao is that most people outside of China can't buy from there. It would also be more helpful if you linked to actual listings rather than just mentioning the site.

Re: Streetwalrus's first GameCube
I can't help you much more than this. It should behave exactly the same as a real xenogc, so this is what you get. Do try to adjust your pot, that could help a lot.
I'd recommend just burning a Swiss disc and playing your games off of an SD card.

Re: Streetwalrus's first GameCube
I'm surprised that build made a difference, it was probably just your wiring that needed some care. If you don't mind, try the previous build again to see if it still works.

Re: Hu-Go! GX unofficial
The makefile for hu-go wii is there isn't it (I didn't try it)? Try: make -f Makefile.wii Yes, it is present. It throws me this error: https://i.imgur.com/b9cTXE7.jpg Change line 100 of that file to `@make --no-print-directory -C $(BUILD) -f $(CURDIR)/Makefile.wii`. There are other obstacles to mak...

Re: Streetwalrus's first GameCube
That's actually not supposed to happen because it turns out the pin for the LED is different on models B+ and 2. :P Here's a build with that fixed. I can also confirm that kernel7.img is the file you want to replace with my kernel.img. Also make sure your wires are connected to the right pins on the...

Re: Streetwalrus's first GameCube
Based on your description, it seems like it's not working. The flashing pattern you're seeing mean the pi is booting something, but you should see one more solid green during the GC boot animation. I've also checked the behavior of an unmodded drive (don't have the pi installed in there anymore) and...

Re: Streetwalrus's first GameCube
Correct. The rainbow screen is part of the GPU firmware, my code doesn't touch the GPU at all so it's expected that you get either that or no output, I've never bothered to check. If kernel7.img is the only kernel file you have on there then it's the one you want to replace. The other files are most...

Re: Streetwalrus's first GameCube
Does something happen if you hold start with a legit disc inserted? If so then the xeno is fully working and you probably need a pot adjustment to get backups to read.

Re: Streetwalrus's first GameCube
Alright, can you describe exactly what the drive is doing? It's supposed to spin up and stop multiple times while it gets patched. Some times it also speeds up much more than usual. You can also hear a number of clicks. Does the ACT LED on the pi light up?

Re: Streetwalrus's first GameCube
I've never tried USB power but I think it should be fine. If it's not even reading originals then that means it's doing something. What happens if you hold start?

Re: Streetwalrus's first GameCube
Fair enough. Here's a build that should work on all rpi2 and 3 models (and will not work on the original model B/B+), keep in mind that it's untested and using a newer compiler so it's not guaranteed to work. Setup is the same.

Re: Streetwalrus's first GameCube
It probably needs a minor change and recompiling because models 2 and 3 have moved the MMIO area. Also keep in mind that this is a terrible solution, you can get a xenogc for very cheap these days.

Re: Resident Evil 2 and 3 listed as audio streaming
If you mean that Swiss detects them as audio streaming titles, that's because many games erroneously set that flag in the disc header even if they don't actually use the feature.

Re: backup games on gamecube won't load
I have no idea about the disks.
The Swiss build I posted doesn't seem like it works at all, and I'm not appropriately set up to debug it at the moment so you'll have to go back to official builds. Hopefully the Ritek discs work out better.

Thanks for trying. I've asked emu_kidid to test that change again, he told me before that it worked but he never merged it into the master branch.

Try this build, but please avoid sharing it all over the place as it's not exactly validated for public consumption yet. The interesting change is in the way patches are being uploaded to the drive
