Yeah, but I'm surprised Nintendo allowed such an accessory when it gives you writeable media to use with the console.

Re: Official GameCube SD Adapter DOL-019, a few pics.

The label says SD Card adapter. I'm shocked that this exists. I guess it must have come out late in the GC's life when Nintendo was already resigned to the fact that there were ways to run homebrew on the system?

Re: Which part of this code should I be modifying?

431B0000 is a floating-point number, not an integer, with a value of 155.0. If you change it to e.g. 434D0000, that would be 205.0 and in theory make the cars faster. (I don't have Burnout and haven't tested.)

Re: DVD Drive Emulator Question

I would recommend against using microsd. I have a gdemu, and it's a little fiddly inserting a full size sd card into a slot located inside the drive cavity. A microsd card would be a nightmare. You could use a microSD to full SD adapter for an existing card. I certainly wouldn't buy a new microSD c...

Re: Cleaning discs before burning

If by cleaning you mean checking the disc for dust and wiping it off before writing to it, then yes. If you mean using a cleaning solution, then no. You should get a better disc brand if they're coming that dirty right off the spindle!

Re: Super Monkey Ball levels without GCrebuilder?

Rebuilding an ISO with GCR works fine in Dolphin for me, so either you're doing it wrong or the SMB ISO has some features that GCR doesn't support. why is it &&systemdata instead of sys like with Dolphin BSV used a different naming convention for GCR, as he's not involved with Dolphin to my ...

Re: Super Monkey Ball levels without GCrebuilder?

You need to extract the entire ISO to a folder, replace the files, and then build a new ISO if you want to insert new files that are bigger than the originals. It's not a problem with GCRebuilder.

Re: PSO I&II Plus and Swiss Black Screen

The game's main executable is not compressed, but the address range you mentioned jogged my memory to check my notes. Ralf mentioned in the past that PSO Plus (and Episode III and the Pokemon games) memset 0x80001800 - 0x80002FFF as part of the extra cheating protections they have, since that's the ...

Re: PSO I&II Plus and Swiss Black Screen

you can upgrade your character from the normal version to the Plus version, but loose all of your items. At least as long as you use the NTSC/U version of the game. US+ does not delete your items. JP 1.03 and JP+ delete your items, but only if you try to load a character created with JP 1.02. Once ...

Re: PSO I&II Plus and Swiss Black Screen

A player on Sylverant reported the same problem. He could play nonPlus via SD card, but Plus only worked with a disc. He never found a solution, AFAIK. Keep in mind that you can download The East Tower, The West Tower, Seat of the Heart, and Central Dome Fire Swirl to your memory card, so Plus isn't...

Re: Question about modded VGA cable

This is certainly a problem for Dreamcast VGA output. Some TVs do not accept 720x480 over VGA, as it's not an expected monitor resolution, but the DC outputs 640x480 of active image within a 720x480 frame, so you can only use DC VGA directly if you're lucky enough to have a TV with VGA input that al...

Re: Sending private messages

The outbox is used for messages that the recipient hasn't read yet, so you can still edit them. Once they appear in the sent folder, the recipient has read them, and you can't edit them anymore.

Re: Total Gamecube ISO hacking?

GCRebuilder is awesome, although its main limitation is that it uses 2048-byte alignment when you build a new ISO from an extracted filesystem, so the ISO won't run in Nintendont. I'm not sure how compatible GCR ISOs are with real GC hardware, but they work fine in Dolphin.

You need different codes depending upon which release of the game you have.

NTSC-J = Japan
NTSC-U = North America
PAL = Europe

Re: Is it possible to hard code Widescreen code inside an iso?

IMHO the best method for creating permanent file patches is Code Fusion, because unlike Xdelta and IPS, it includes file verification abilities. Most games require separate patches for each regional release, and games with multiple releases per region may need more than one patch, too. The basic str...

Re: Is it possible to hard code Widescreen code inside an iso?

You don't really need to write a program from scratch for this sort of thing; you can create patches with Xdelta, IPS, or CodeFusion that will get the job done easily without needing to write a separate program for each game.

Re: Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door (GCN/WIIRD/NTSC-U)

Dolphin's cheat support is spotty, at best. Its codehandler is lacking, and the fact that you can boot games without the IPL means that some codes don't work at all. I've also experienced crashes when trying to use codes, but you're using way more lines than I ever did.

You can use a Retrode with the GBx plugin to dump your cartridges and their save data. BennVenn also makes cart dumpers for GBx.

Does it work on real hardware? If so, it's just an emulation bug, of which Dolphin has many.

Re: ~ The Homeland Project ~

Text problems in Dolphin are usually solved by creating a game ini file in the User/GameSettings folder for the game you're playing and putting

Code: Select all

SafeTextureCacheColorSamples = 0
in it. The texture cache can mess up text in many games if you don't do this.

Re: The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess (GCN/WIIRD/NTSC-U)

Dolphin is not 100% accurate, so some patches don't work on Dolphin but do work on real hardware. There isn't much you can do about it except to submit a Dolphin pull request on GitHub that will fix the problem (or to find the first build that introduced the problem, assuming there are any old build...

The key is "some" codes. Many codes work just fine, so there's no reason to drop AR support for codes that would work with it.

Re: Phantasy Star Online Episode III (GCN/AR/PAL)

Cody's last post would indicate that he does not. There's no reason to drop AR support when AR is still useful for many people; after all, it's still possible for people to own an AR for a real GC and have no other way to apply codes. Not everybody has access to a Wii or Dolphin, the latter of which...
