NEED HELP WITH HANGING ISSUE

Hi Guys,
Im having an issue with "Crash Bandicoot 2 NTSC-U",
the issue is when I go to start a new game the cut scenes pass without bother untill the big cortex head speaks to crash in the level room. After cortex finishes talking to crash instead of vanishing and allowing me to start the game it just hangs with cortex just staying there.
Im asking because the compatibility list says it works fine, and i have tried booting it with both "HLE" and the "Bios" with the same result.
Any help at all guys would be great
