VBAGX, Cube64 and CubeSX

Post by Edfonmontez » Fri Jan 03, 2014 6:26 pm

Hi, is anyone else able to get these emulators to run at even a reasonable fps on a softmod gamecube? I have snes9x FCE and Genplus all running great, i also have VBAGX running gameboy and GBC games without even a slight hiccup, however if i load a gba rom its unplayable extremely slow with terribly emulated sound. Cube64 will run mario64, however its very slow and if i try to run larger roms like ocarina of time it freezes or doesnt load certain textures etc cubesx is the same. Can anyone help me here thanks.

If you want to play Mario 64, the Nintendo's OOT emulator runs is almost perfectly but it would be illegal to share it here. With others I guess that's just where the emulation is at the moment. I don't know if it will be able to play gba games ever at full speed

Why wouldn't it be possible ? The GameCube is many time more powerful than the GBA. It has the potential to emulate it full speed with hardware acceleration, which is probably what's lacking ATM.

it's not that the gamecube isn't more powerful, it's whether the gamecube can emulate the entirety of the GBA console at the same speed.

And I do not doubt its ability to do so. Cheap android phones can do it and they are well below the GC's power. Heck, even a calculator can emulate it at reasonable speed.

What do you mean by nintendos oot? Has some made an emulator using the emulation from the master quest discs released for GameCube?

Yes you can modify the ISO to put other ROMs in it but I heard it's not 100% compatible and I dunno how to do it.

There is a list of games that the Master Quest ISO can support, for this google is your friend ;)
If I remember it was eight or so roms, I haven't got it working either
Personally I use Not64 for cube and wii, it has many hardware tricks to give it speed,
you can find the download here at GCForever

Hello.
I wanted to play some GBA games on my GC with my SD Media launcher.
However, the speed with VBAGX is really awful. Therefore, I tried to launch my GBA games on my ps2.

I tried a port of gPSP which is working great with the few games I tested (released in october 2013)

Someone already told about porting Gpsp on GC.
In this pack the source code is available

Maybe you could use it.
