antalpromille wrote:here is some pictures of the adapter i made. built to fit and replace the usb to ide pcb inside an external hdd closure. the chip itself is on the bottomside of my pcb just to make it fit inside, and its using power from the closure to the harddrive and it also uses the original activity led from the closure. atm its running a beta from emukidid.

i had my own doubts about this since i had alot of problems making it work, but now you can se for your self :)

greetings from sweden!
@antalpromille - nice work making the adapter. I hope I can find some time to do one this winter.

i cant help you with the schematics byt i can tell you what you need to make it as easy as possible.

your gonna need:
kynar wire avg30 something like it.
experimental board of your choise.
solder iron, solder and flux.
1 X 20x2 pinheader.
1 X 330 Ohm resistor (2 if you want a power indicating led).
1 X 10k Ohm resistor.
1 X led for activity (or 2 if you want power indicating led).
1 X XC95144XL-based chip, i used bluechip v9.
1 X GC memory card to sacrifice (or solder the exi wires inside the GC).
JTAG-programmer compatible with your chip.
maybe something more, but i think thats all.

if you use bluechip v9 or v10 i attached some pictures i got from emu_kidid, i modified one of them.

I only used a single 330ohm resistor, where did the second go?

your my man, but one question i still have. what does on the V9 diagram with the ide connection the red lines mean? do i need to disconnect these parts or solder them together?

you are supposed to desolder the resistors and caps mounted at the red lines :)

if someone want to etch a pcb to use, i made a design and posting it here. i think it is good but you have to change the pins in gc_ide.ucf.
it´s my first pcb design ever, but i hove you will enjoy it.

does anyone also have a picture of the gamecube memory card where the connections are labled?

ok found one:

now we only need a method to load movies from the hdd and the cube would be a perfect media player.

It's not too difficult to port mplayer-ce to GC with support for this.. it's definitely high on my todo list :D

hi,
i have prepared a gamecube library for eagle to prepare your own memory card. in this library you will find the connections of the memorycard. when you are looking on it the left side is the side which goes into the memoryport. the size is meassured of an original memorycard. its just the connector so that you can put on whatever you want.

hi guys!
i am working on a port to altera epm240t100 right now, i tried with xc9572 but the code did not fit inside. as soon as my 500 uv-leds arrives and i can make my pcb and test it, i am going to post it here.

nice, I estimate 2-3 weeks until the ide-exi's are in my hands and ready to ship to you all (I have to program them and test them once they arrive) :)

What are you going to do with 500 leds? Is it so that you can test things out easily (e.g, see led is on or off)?

he will prepare a device to etch pcbs. so he need a device to expose a pcb for the layout. there he need this LEDs.
