Wasp fusion not mounting sd

Post by akorz » Sat May 30, 2015 12:29 am

Hey everyone I was wondering if anyone had any potential solutions to this...

Ok so I have the wasp fusion with firmware 1.4 installed in tandem with the megadrive v3(which is pretty badass for lazy people like me by the way) I've got my lid switch and my NC switch hooked up and I can get it to boot the wiikey menu but if gives the the following two errors:

Error: wbfs open
Wbfs header error
I've formated a total of 3 different SD cards using both fat32 and wbfs with both but nothing seems to wanna mount... I'm l've cleaned all ffc cables and reconnected several times and reseated the mega drive v3 a couple times still same result.

For what its worth while I'm sitting at the wiikey loader screen and its saying mounting.... The light on the wasp is a dim blue

At this point I'm thinking bad SD pcb.
Any advice or help on this would be very appreciated! Thank you!

"Error: wbfs open" and "WBFS header error" mean the WASP has detected the card in the slot but cannot read it...
FAT32 only works with swiss...you will have to WBFS formatted SD cards with official WKF firmware..

...it is very unlikely the SD pcb is the cause

I have formatted with wbfs as well and injected the 1.5 ISO with wbfs 4.0 and it does the same thing I've also tested it on multiple cards with various games as well

sounds like your WASP might have a problem...have you ever used it before or is it new?

do you have any other method to boot swiss.....a modchip or SDML?

It was brand new. I have a xeno installed on the reader but that doesn't really do me too much good with the megadrive v3. I was dicking with it some more and if I press the "mounting..." Entry on the wkf it black screens and gives me a shitload of errors.

You can remove the dvd drive and plug the wasp in once swiss has booted (yes with the gamecube on). It's relatively safe to do.

^^ exactly...hot swap

plug in your xeno modded drive and boot swiss..
then remove the DVD drive and plug in v3 with wasp...
make sure you have a fat32 formatted SD card in the wasp slot and try to read the contents of the SD card thru swiss

ive found that sometimes WASP do not always work properly with official firmware but once after loaded with swiss WASP has regained its functionality, sometimes.....

So I did as you guys said.. I got swiss booted... And it recognizes the wasp I go to initialize the wasp but it doesn't seem to read the card I threw the swiss ISO and dol file on the SD and tried to boot the swiss dol listing from the CD drive without refreshing which it did read it but came up with error incorrect dol, I tried it a second time and it rebooted into the wkf loader... And yes the card is fat32 formatted.... Kinda at a loss.

Gonna assume not but is there a way to flash 1.5 or swiss onto the wasp without using the wkf firmware or a gecko?

the 1.2 recovery iso works a little different...
can you follow the instructions to see if that will at least recognize the recovery iso and enable a firmware restore?

im betting this will not work either and there is something wrong with the wasp itself...

i gotta grab a linux live cd first cause apparently DD is useless on windows 7, but ill post an update after i get all that setup and a couple more beers in me.. assuming this wasp is fucked, is there anywhere still selling these things?

UPDATE: K so i DD'd the shit to the sd card and now all i get is "card is not in WBFS format" which i guess is a step forward ive yet to see that error lol. Oh and apparently doesnt black screen on me when i tab right on the "Mounting..." text

the 1.2 recovery is a stripped version of 1.2 firmware update and does not have a WBFS format...
since the menu error reported "card is not in WBFS format" then that would be a correct message

the 1.2 recovery is suppose to launch into an auto-updater with a count down
since the WASP still failed to read the recovery at a "lower level" there must be some issues with the FPGAs ability to read the contents of the card

possibilities:
firmware issue - unlikely
SD card FFC cable damage - unlikely
faulty SD PCB - possible
FPGA bank damage - very likely

whats most interesting is the card is being detected when it is sensed in the slot....this is what allows loading when you press pin 29, else it would default to try reading the DVD drive which its not...its loading the WKF firmware....
im not sure there will be any solution to this...

Mega himself does, and they're fully tested so you won't get a borked chip.
