How to run backup games on unmodded gc?
How to run backup games on unmodded gc?
Can I buy a sd card adapter and put sd media loader on it?
This is the only adapter I can seem to find available: dx.com/p/wiikey-sd-card-adapter-for-wii-3993
Will that work? I really appreciate any input as I'm going crazy after researching this for hours today without being sure of anything really.

Ok so this one: http://us.codejunkies.com/Products/GCNW ... 00589.aspx
It's 20 bucks. My question is, is that something magical or can I just get $5 adapter I posted from deal extreme? And load the software up. Here it is if you missed it http://dx.com/p/wiikey-sd-card-adapter-for-wii-3993
Please, can anybody answer this question?
I'm going to a big flea market on Sunday and hope to find a gc. I'd really like to know if it's gonna cost $20 or $5 to get it running homebrew.
I did more reading.. So can I just burn a boot disc (iso that o hopefully can download free) to a mini DVD-r? Then get the adapter on dx.com, and load swiss, then load gcm or iso games? Or an I really gonna have to fork out $20, more that the cost of a bare bones GameCube?

Re: How to run backup games on unmodded gc?
you need a way to load anything something from SD, so a 5$ adapter alone wont do it
...either use a modchip or a SDML

Re: How to run backup games on unmodded gc?
The AR method woks too.
Re: How to run backup games on unmodded gc?
Ok. So there no way I can make my own sdml? Like is it just a boot disc?
So what is the cheapest or easiest way to run homebrew off sd card on a GameCube? I'd rather not have to pay more that the GameCube itself to mod, but I might have to.

Re: How to run backup games on unmodded gc?
Cheapest may not be the easiest.
The easiest for you is a SDML or AR.

Re: How to run backup games on unmodded gc?
Blah so I added the SDML to my cart and the shipping is $13.50. So about $34 for SDML. You could buy 2 GCN for that.MockyLock wrote:Cheapest may not be the easiest.

So what then is cheapest? Is there a cheap mod? Can you give me a link?
Also what about AR? Is it also $34? Thanks
Re: How to run backup games on unmodded gc?
Ok so.. I figure it might be worth $34 bucks to get the sdml. (Unless the AR is cheaper?)
The question, can I play games off the sd card?
Does the sd card have to be 2GB or smaller? Only 1 game could fit. I'd want 2 or 3 games (smash bros melee, Mario kart, super Mario sunshine).
Or must I buy mini dvd-r? And adjust the pot? Also will I be able to burn on a standard laptop or desktop drive?
Thanks again

Re: How to run backup games on unmodded gc?
The cheapest would be a XenoGC chip, search in marketplce for it.
Would be about 10-12$.Obviously, to keep the cheapest, you'll have to solder it yourself.

How hard? My bother is pretty good at soldering.MockyLock wrote:The cheapest would be a XenoGC chip, search in marketplce for it.

Where is this marketplace you speak of?
now assuming I bought and had the xenoGC soldered in.
Could I buy the wiikey sd adapter for $4? And burn a boot disc? (Swiss? ) Then could I boot off 1 disc and run gcm files of SDCH? And of course do the pot mod.
Or I guess I could burn each game to a mini DVD and boot directly?
Also with swiss, can it emulate a mem card from the sd I'm booting the gcm from? Or should I just buy an extra mem for slot B?
Re: How to run backup games on unmodded gc?
The soldering isn't very hard if you do the wire method. Yes you can just burn a swiss disc and run them off that $4 adapter. Yes you can burn a game iso to a dvd and run like a normal game.
Re: How to run backup games on unmodded gc?
Awesome.. So to clarify, can I get a 16GB sdhc to put in the adapter?Plastic wrote:The soldering isn't very hard if you do the wire method. Yes you can just burn a swiss disc and run them off that $4 adapter. Yes you can burn a game iso to a dvd and run like a normal game.
And with that can I emulate a memory card for game saves? Or must I buy a memory card also?
Also can someone show me where to get xenoGC for 10-12$? Cheapest I can find is nearly $20.

Re: How to run backup games on unmodded gc?
Thx yeah I found that afterwards but he hasn't PMed me back yet.
So I bought that wiikey sd adapter from DX. I also bought a 8GB Sandisk class 10 card, and also a ten pack of mini dvd-r.
Now all I need is the mod chip and a GameCube!
But if someone can tell me where to get a Swiss boot disc in .iso format so I can burn it when I get everything else, that' be cool.

Re: How to run backup games on unmodded gc?
I know this website promotes GameCube foremost but would it have not been much easier and cheaper to get old style wii as that would allow you to use GC Booter - Swiss Booter - Devolution - Dios Mios and super easy soft modding of the hardware with Modmii.mat8888 wrote: Now all I need is the mod chip and a GameCube!
Playing - Super Mario Sunshine - DariusBurst CS - Hotline Miami 2 - Rpi2 Lakka - X360 BurnOut Paradise City
Re: How to run backup games on unmodded gc?
Did I forget to mention I have an 82" flat screen and will be using it via component I hope it isn't too terrible.wii_HD wrote:I know this website promotes GameCube foremost but would it have not been much easier and cheaper to get old style wii as that would allow you to use GC Booter - Swiss Booter - Devolution - Dios Mios and super easy soft modding of the hardware with Modmii.mat8888 wrote: Now all I need is the mod chip and a GameCube!
But I hear Wii can use 576p via composite. I guess that would be a whole lot better than 480i eh?

Re: How to run backup games on unmodded gc?
Composite or component? Composite is the yellow white and red cable and the component you need 2 leads to get picture.
Shocked though as you have a 82" tv yet complain about price of an adaptor!

Ergg i always mistype them. i know the diff, i must be part dyslexic. Its composite, the trashy 480i res. :/dekatrace wrote:Composite or component? Composite is the yellow white and red cable and the component you need 2 leads to get picture.

The thing is we had a big clunky old CRT tv till a few weeks ago, but someone gave us his year old tv cuz he got a bigger one. xD
Re: How to run backup games on unmodded gc?
A flatscreen? You mean an LCD HDTV? Gamecube games will look terrible on that thing, especially using composite.
Hardware: Wii (PAL)
Hardware configuration: System Menu 4.1E, Priiloader
Swiss boot method: Modified Wii Swiss Booter provided by Extrems
Software medium: Retail discs

Not LCD but it's a Mitsubishi 82" 1080p tv. Yeah I guess it won't look the greatest but what can I doBenoitRen wrote:A flatscreen? You mean an LCD HDTV? Gamecube games will look terrible on that thing, especially using composite.
Re: How to run backup games on unmodded gc?
576p should still look OK.
Re: How to run backup games on unmodded gc?
But that's only with a $150 composite video cable and the original gc model, right? Or is there a cheaper one one can buy?emu_kidid wrote:576p should still look OK.

Most component cables are $50 less, been in the wrong business.
Re: How to run backup games on unmodded gc?
Idk, I've only seen a few on ebay ,not sure exactly how much they cost. But isn't there a new thing being developed? I thought I saw a thread about it somewhere on here.APE992 wrote:People are buying composite cables for $150?
