Was this even planned as a Homebrew?

Heck even Doom 2 and Final Doom

Someone did a port of the shareware version of Doom a while back. Its pretty easy to find, its a small .dol that you can boot very easily.

Try using RetroArch Wii and download the prboom.wad along with the corresponding wads for Final Doom, Doom 2, TNT and Plutonia Experiment.
I have tested them all and they all work.

Although, you might have to get some custom settings for the audio files, since you need to create something like a .cue file to run the mp3s with prboom.

Sounds a little complicated, maybe that is why I cannot make it to work on my cube. Anyway, I will keep using the nds port of prboom until I find an easier way to play it in my gc.

Emmmm, me?
I got all the Doom packages working with sound and such.
I can play Final Doom, Doom 2 TNT and Plutonia, completed both Doom 1 & 2, keeping an eye for the other two left :)

Really? Wich build are you using, GC or Wii? I cannot make that thing to work, and I can play all cps1 and 5 cps2 games, wich was impossible in the first versions of this emulator.

Same here, I've tried plutonia but it ended with an error message(too little RAM probably).

Please provide some more information.

I am looking forward to play DOOM and DOOM II on my Gamecube one day.
I have the old CubeDoom but this is not the full game.

How to get prboom working on the gamecube ?
It is available in the retroarch core.
The console just freezes when I launch the wad file.

Same result for Tyrquake.

EDIT : I put prboom.wad next to the doom wad as suggested in this reddit thread.
https://www.reddit.com/r/vitahacks/comm ... retroarch/

That just restarts my gamecube :(

PRBoom and Tyrquake are in Retroarch, 1.9.2 is the last to be known to work although you have to beware to run them in the appropriate display frequency, as it can't switch output video modes and some emulators just crash if run in the wrong mode.
Libretro Stable releases folder.

There may be standalone releases laying around.

You'll find Wads at Archive.org

I didn't manage to get them to work at first attempt (RA 1.15.0, run from 50Hz SWISS), but I don't have much time for it at the moment.

Keep us updated if you're successful at running it.

So, I managed to get it to run and with custom button mappings and audio. It took me a while to figure it out. Btw it works with the latest version of retroarch for the gamecube. But makes like every button a turbo button. But in a game like doom it is not too bad. So, just install the latest version of the Retroarch here: https://buildbot.libretro.com/stable/1. ... troArch.7z
Launch Retorarch so it automatically creates folders for you.
Put the prboom.wad file in the system folder in the retroarch directory. You can get the file here: https://github.com/libretro/libretro-pr ... prboom.wad
Your rom file can be anywhere I think but just to make sure, I put it in "Retroarch/content/dooms/doom/doom.wad".
And now all you got to do now is "disable Always Allow Core on Run Content" in Settings/Core.
Then Launch the "doom.wad" file and it should launch.
This is the point where you can spend a bit customizing your controls by clicking "X" and "Y" together (I Think, I don't remember the button combo and my Gamecube is packed because I am getting ready to move).
But, yeah so now the Doom on Gamecube is finally solved! Not Cubedoom shareware version. But, full versions.
The Dooms I was able to run was "The Ultimate DOOM", "DOOM II: Hell on Earth", "Final Doom: Plutonia Experiment", and "Final Doom: TNT - Evilution".

Ah yes, literal lost media that is 'easy to find'
