Post by MarioMania » Wed Oct 29, 2014 5:44 am

Can it be done, To read DVD movies on the Mini DVD format or DVD with the Case off?

What format did Nintendo have to put there Previews on Mini DVD?

if you want to use DVD discs, mini or full size, read this:
http://www.gc-linux.org/wiki/Mfe-distro

you will be limited to 1.4GB disc space no matter which type/size DVD you use.
all the information you need to know is in the link and there should be a sample movie which will give you the format types used for movies...study the format type to understand the the parameters used for transcoding and supported container types...

Mfe only plays movies...its not a full featured dvd software supporting menus like in a normal DVD movie
if you want a full DVD player then buy a Panasonic Q, or just buy any cheap 30$ dvd player at just about any store which will still give you better features than Mfe...and a 30$ DVD player will include a remote control too...

Yeah I wouldn't count on anyone writing an awesome DVD-like video standard for the Gamecube.

With its disc space limit, better to adapt the concept to work from SD cards.

So it's not a DVD player app per say

Just plays AVI files from the DVD-ROM drive

Not exactly. This app is very similar to the one extrems made for wii and gamecube but with the addition to play mini-dvd´s. I have not tested any media off dvd, but tested several kinds of video formats off my microsd using a special version called ¨MFE Mortimor¨.

Mplayer CE does not support DVD playback on GC

So it won't act like a DVD player

Is there a way to get the DVD Movies to work in GsOS, Making the DVD Movie (with the 1.4GB Limit) as a ISO?

With DVD Menu & the Movie, of course compressed

Let's try this one more time...
If you want a GC that will function as a DVD player then you need to buy a Panasonic Q
