Well I Been Gettin This Weird Noise Inside The Wii While Playin Super Smash Brothers Brawl. It Reads The Disc Perfect But Its Makin This Loud Noise. Its Not That Loud But Im Worried It Might Get Worst. How Do I Fix This Problem?

If you have a modchip, try setting it to read the games at 3x via the configuration disc and see if the issue goes away. Smash Bros Brawl is one of the worst games for the laser to read from, especially if your wii is an early unit :\

Serial number: LU319349944

The Wii has a RVL-001(USA) model number and is produced for Canada/Mexico/USA. The copyright year is 2006.


so its about 4 years old , have you tried any other disc based games and got the same noise ?

also you may want to check into getting a Softmod setup and running games via a USB Hard Drive , that way you bypass the DVD Drive altogether and the noise shouldnt be a problem anymore.

wassup dude! well most games only make that noise. and they are all clean and no scratches. im just worried it will get worst. i heard it has to do with some small loose screw inside the wii

BTW. i have another problem. ever since i updated yesterday the homebrew channel and homebrew browser i be gettin a random code dump or it just freezes when im usin my app, emulators.. usually it happens when im browsin the settings..

The homebrew channel issue you mention is a known issue, libOGC doesn't properly shut down IOS and it returns a message to the next application you load, and since it doesn't know how to handle it, it can crash.

As far as the DVD drive is concerned, is it with every game/disc? does it do it with Gamecube discs (originals)? Does it do it when the Wii is horizontally used? I would suggest locating another Wii perhaps to swap the drive if you aren't too keen on sending it some place for repair. (but if it's still playing games fine, I wouldn't worry about it yet)

@emu_kidid ..well it only happens to some games, only the wii games, as for the gamecube games nope it doesnt make that noise.

BTW.. i fixed that homebrew problem! i just deleted the 1.0.8 and put back 1.0.7 ..now i can play my dvds again and no more code dumps..

careful. When I started hearing that noise when playing a game, my games stopped working on my nintendo wii slowly.
