NTSC-J Cube can't read SJIS formated memory card

Hey there guys. I have a strange issue. Was trying to the homebros exploit on an orange gamecube. The cube restartet (probably because a dol file on the mc were missing) and rebootet. After that the cube wouldn't recognise the SJIS memory card anymore.
Several cold restarts didn't fix this issue. The cube wanted to format SJIS formated cards and recognize ANSI formated cards (even if some characters weren't displayed right). But the cube still read japanese games without issue.
Did someone else experience such an issue before?
