[Solved] Cobramanager on GNU/Linux

Post by vanfanel » Sat Jan 21, 2017 9:00 pm

Hi there,

I have come back to my GC, and I wanted to test the newest SWISS. However, flashing it to my Viper Extreme is proving complicated after all these years!
Is there a way to flash into the Viper Extreme on GNU/Linux? Cobramanager seems to work with WINE, but it won't connect to the chip, no matter what.
lsusb reprts it as:

Code: Select all

Bus 002 Device 006: ID 0403:cc5c Future Technology Devices International, Ltd
(So it connects to the FTDI chip but the client connection can't be completed)

Maybe there's an alternative to Cobramanager?
Any help is appreciated.

You should pass the device through to a virtualbox running Windows, wine can't use USB as far as I know (unless the application uses libusb in a specific manner).

@Streetwalker: Thanks! Made it work under Virtualbox with a Window$7 system.
