Orange gamecube makes clicking noise and cannot read disc

Post by gcboy » Wed May 31, 2017 2:21 pm

I got one orange GameCube that makes a clicking noise and won't read disc. The drive's potentiometer currently reads 540ohm. I tried adjusting it a few ohms backward even as low as 10ohms or 0 ohm but still not working. Already cleaned the lens with isopropyl. Any other ways to fix it?

Sounds/behaves like a dead laser.

Does it spin discs up fully even if for just a second at all or is the laser just seeking to the end and back? Or is it spinning the disc up then smacking the end of the rail a few times and stopping?
