Play backup disks on unmodded wii without homebrew?

Post by ripread » Sat Jun 10, 2017 5:10 pm

I have an unmodded wii, no homebrew installed. I don't want to mod it or install homebrew. Is there any way I can burn gamecube or wii games and play them on this wii?

No. How do you expect it would work?

Well it works on a gamecube if you have the hardware mod to lower the laser frequency. I thought the wii's laser was already lowered so that hardware mod wasn't needed. I don't know what other safeguards are in place

It's a lot more complicated than that, and has nothing to do with laser frequency. The real discs are not regular DVDs, so you can't just make the console read one. You need a modchip that makes the drive do it, or a softmod.
