Rebel Strike disc noisy?

Post by kumasan » Thu Oct 05, 2017 5:27 pm

I have a second hand gamecube, rogue leader and rebel strike.
Rebel strike disc is sometimes noisy, as if the laser tries to access a lot to it. It's not a constant noise, it happens a lot on the select mission screen and when something has to be loaded I think. I don't get any freezes, it's just that I find this noise a little bit loud.
The disc has scratches, but as I said, no freezes or error message, and rogue leader has scratches as well but is way quiter.
I don't really want to buy a new disc if it's a normal situation.
By the way, I have a dol 001 gamecube version.

What exactly does it sound like, lots of head seeking noise?

Yes I think it's this kind of noise.

I'm fairly sure there was a recalled run of this game disc where they had either placed the files in a bad order on the disc which lead to thrashing of the laser causing read errors or they just had disc printing errors. I can't find any facts to back it up but maybe another member will recall the issues this disc had.

Interesting.
If someone could confirm that would be a relief and I could play my game without worrying about it.
