Hey their! so i'm embarking on a journey in an attempt to fix my friend's gamecube.

Pushed the power button. light comes on, than turns off.

Fan still runs.

Looked online, discovered it may be a fuse problem.

Took apart the WHOLE thing down to the power regulator and documented it.

Can't find fuse...

Gamecube is a Dol 001 (USA)

Here's the power regulator.

This sounds more like the short-circuit protection than a blown fuse. Try turning it on with nothing plugged into the motherboard and see if you get a video signal, then add things until it dies. That might tell you something.
Also check all the voltages on the regulator without the motherboard.

Nothing plugged into the motherboard huh..

Im terribly sorry but im not too sure what you mean for how am i going to detect a video signal when their's nothing connected to the motherboard.

Or do you mean have the fan, power regulator and the strip that goes to the front panel disconnected?

Cuz so far the moment i push on the power button when the power supply and video cable were connected to it. it turns on. than the light goes out and the fan just keeps spinning..

But ah. if it is a short-circuit protection thing than what can i do to fix it?

also OOoh! okay! i'll try testing all the voltage? on the regulator. i assume if i get a 0 than it means something's wrong?

What I meant is you should have the bare minimum connected, so everything between the power brick and the mainboard, and the video cable (analog output, not digital/component). No DVD drive, no controller board, no external accessories.

If there's a short then we need to know what's causing it, that's why this is needed.

So when you said power brick. do you mean the ac adapter that goes from the wall to the gamecube? or the internal power regulator to the motherboard.

Also i assume you mean the video cable that goes into the analog output.


And when you mean no dvd drive, contrlller board or external accessories you mean these right?
