Gamecube doesn't like my backups

Post by CFHeadphase » Fri Jun 29, 2018 7:30 pm

Hi all, I've recently installed a XenoGC in my PAL DOL-001 Gamecube.

It seems to work fine (when I use official games, I can hold START to get to the XenoGC menu and they play fine), but when I try and use any of the backups I've burnt, the console doesn't spin the disc up at all.

I've calibrated the Lens Potentiometer to 200Ohms within 5 Ohms.

I've tried setting the write speed to 1x but it seems my drive only supports 3.3x writing. Is my burner bad, my media or my console?

I hope you can help. Thanks for reading! <3

It can be any of those options. You can always try lowering the pot value even more, it's perfectly safe.

I tried putting the pot value to like 130 (I think it bottoms out at 150) and that still didn't help.

Disc ID: MKM-A02-00
Book Type: DVD+RW

If I'm reading this correctly, you're trying a 8cm DVD+RW?

The GameCube has a REALLY hard time reading rewritable media, I'd strongly suggest going for -R media.

Gave the new media a go, and it works a treat!

Thanks for your help.

Glad to hear it's working - enjoy it while it lasts though, the GameCube really doesn't like backup media ;)
