Gamecube Motherboard Repair Attempt...

Post by DragonBoy » Sun Apr 26, 2020 10:59 pm

Hello,
I bought a few days ago a Gamecube console on a flee market for 5 euros. It had some dirt around it (probably had been inside some water for some time). Now whilst I was attempting to clean it with a toothbrush, a small part broke (pointed with an arrow at the picture). I think that the part reads "VCX 125 2 03". I'm willing to give it a try and attempt to repair the mainboard if I can get that part on aliexpress for 1-2 euros. Could the more techies please give me a few pointers?

Of course this is more of a fun project... I won't die if I can't make it work  but it would be really nice if we can save one more cube from certain death...

Thank you everyone

It would be nice to save it, but I fear the damage is far beyond what can possibly be done, expect coper oxyde to have raised and shorting BGA components in unreachable places, to begin with.

Yeah, after cleaning it looks way better but still, there might be some unrepairable damage to the companents not visible by the naked eye...
