Shuddering display on GBISR after scale up

Post by Ayuthan » Fri Nov 19, 2021 10:47 pm

I added GBISR to my GameCube to run Metroid, hence using SR so it’ll run better, and found the screen size to be very small, so I appended the file with —zoom:2.5 and —scaler:oversample. That did the trick for the size but now it seems like all the pixels inside the region of the game, so everything except the edges, just... shudder up and down constantly by one pixel. Is there a way to fix this? I don’t think it did this before I increased the zoom. This is displaying on a CRT using an original s video cable.

You need to display in 480i.

I can do that in the SR setup menu right? I don’t have to inject anything else?

Okay I checked, I’ve tried both 480i60 and 120 and both have that issue. Is there some other setting I should be using instead?

It's impossible that you've tried 480i120 since it doesn't work over S-Video and requires a 31 kHz CRT.

I’ve attempted about many different setups of the CLI file and have yet to find one that works. I assumed that the 4:3 ratio one I want would be interlaced, since I’m using a CRT, so I’ve tried
—zoom=3
—vfilter=.5:.25:.25
—scan-mode=interlace

And also tried that but with scaler=oversample. In the first example, the screen was stretched sideways but not vertically, although the shuddering was fixed, and in the second no change to the zoom was made. I’m testing using the GBC settings since right now the game I have to test with is Pokemon Crystal. I am using still the Svid cable and have been leaving it as default 480i60 for all of these tests. Is there something I’m still doing wrong?

GBA ratio is quite close to 16/9, set it to 3:2 then force 16/9 on the TV.
