What is the current state of IDE-EXI?

Hi,
I was wondering if it's a good idea to make IDE-EXI for myself. How is the compatibility and reading speed? Does it work comparable to disc drive?

BTW. I remember that some time ago megalomaniac and emu_kidid were talking about upcoming big announcement for GC scene. Is is still the case?

IDE-EXI is basically a slower SD Gecko at the moment. There are good reasons to get it but there are also reasons to avoid it.
