Pokemon Box; is its connectivity region free?

Post by StarkNebula » Fri Jun 20, 2014 12:51 am

Wondering if Pokemon Box (NTSC-J) is compatible with any version of Ruby/Sapphire/Emerald. Looking to get it if it is. Couldn't find an answer so maybe someone here knows.

I can't answer your question yet because I can't find my GBA. I must have lent it to someone (I use a GBM for Advance games). When I find it I'll try to give you an answer seeing as how you've posted such helpful information about graphic texture formats.

No, its not region free. That's the reason the Europe and Japan versions are so cheap on Ebay. They don't work with American games.

There are Action Replay codes that will let you use any original Pokemon Ruby & Sapphire GBA game (JP, EN, GE, FR, SP, IT)
in Box & Adventure Mode and will let you choose play Ruby or Sapphire.

Pokemon Box Ruby & Sapphire (NTSC-J/Japan):

Code: Select all

(m) [kenobi]
BAND-E63E-UE50K
9GJ0-9BJ9-VM97D

GBA Freeloader [kenobi]
DB4R-49K7-RZFA7
6GG9-B8NC-MGDDY
QP89-UX3B-HWTUB
1U5A-E8KV-89XK7
UX4E-TT56-9F1PZ
DTNC-DUQ2-AM1BQ
FEBA-4G74-36EP0
EKC8-EAN7-5KA73
Z1M2-EFFU-UZ150

L = Play Sapphire
R = Play Ruby

So I tried that code but was very confused as to what happened. When attempting to boot up either Sapphire or FireRed while using the Japanese version of Box, rather than getting an error message, nothing at all happens. It just sits there while Sapphire or FireRed start up like normal. I'm using an NTSC region GameCube with an older GameCube Action Replay, one that allows manual code entry. Does having both parts of the code matter, and what does L=Sapphire and R=Ruby mean exactly?
