Sending a N64 to the US / import customs

Post by andzlay » Fri Jan 20, 2017 12:23 pm

Hi,

has anyone experiences with sending consoles for modding from overseas (exactly: EU, Germany) to the US?
I ordered an ultrahdmi modding from badassconsoles, and I'd like to avoid, that he would need to pay custom fees, when I send my N64 to him.
I read something about "temporary import under bond" for "Articles to be repaired, altered or processed" in the US. I'll prepare the package on the weekend and I know there will be a CN22 form to fill out for the international shipping. I just feel a bit unsure about this and want to minimize trouble. It would totally suck if I had to pay import taxes to the US and then to Germany again
I'll appreciate any input, thanks!

As far as I'm aware, which frankly doesn't mean anything, no one in the history of the US has received import taxes from USPS for a video game.
Other carriers could be different.
