New full sized DVD shells for GameCube?

Post by boredomca » Fri Nov 10, 2017 2:14 am

Is anyone working on new full sized DVD cases? Wondering because of all the XENO chips on the market, low cost of full sized DVD's apposed to mini DVD's and the rarity of existing full sized cases.

Would it be worth doing a Kickstarter and making top shells only for around $20-$30?

I don't think there's any value in pursuing DVD backups these days, we already know how to improve loading from solid state media to perfection. Something will come out sooner or later.

Well the goal is to remove the disk drive and run an SSD but that's not mainstream enough at this point in time plus xeno gc clone chips are still selling like crazy. With all the chipped cubes and the constant problem of mini DVD's I just figured I'd see.
Thank you for the input

Why would someone put an SSD into a cube? Flash is already fast enough and I'm sure the cubes cpu nor the other hardware is capable enough to make use of the speed an SSD can offer.

I was looking for such cases the last years and every time I found them on ebay or somewhere else they were super expensive. Still would love to have a nice looking case for bigger dvds.
Own a couple PAL and JPN cubes. And three BBAs. Homeland and PSO I/II.

Because I just really want to. SSD's for everything plus it will have a handle.

Glad to hear you would like an affordable full sized shell as well.

In some cases, ssds are cheaper than SD cards. The problem is they are more work to implement because most fpgas can't handle the high speed sata bus. The workaround is to use an ide converter chip, but that actually makes up for the difference in storage cost.
