Flash Swiss to Wiikey using a Wii?

Post by exp0wnster » Sun Sep 23, 2012 4:23 pm

Hello everyone,

I want to use my wiikey on my gamecube, however the IPL is 1.0, so I can't use the normal wiikey firmware.

However, I've seen that I can use Swiss as the initial loader on IPL 1.0, so I am trying to install it on my wiikey using my wii. The wii hangs on "init wiikey" though, and I can't get swiss to fully boot up. I can install swiss on my wiikey using the Wii right? Does anyone have a work around for this problem?

Thanks very much!

Even the IPL is 1.0, you could flash Swiss 0.3 to your wiikey fusion on gamecube. I think no one flashes Swiss to wiikey fusion on Wii here.

Well after a lot of messing around I did get my wii to load up swiss fine. In the end, I had to have a fat32 sd card in my wiikey for it to initialize...

Bearteam, do I just wire up my wiikey fusion to my gamecube normally if it is IPL 1.0? Or do I have to do anything special?

Thanks!

Yes, should just wire it up and all should be OK. If I add WBFS then you should be able to use Swiss on a wii too. maybe one day!

After wiring up the wiikey, I still can't get it to work. Its been flashed and tested on a wii, so i know the wiikey works. All the wires have been tested. I push down the "eject" button during startup, but it either freezes up, or does nothing. Has anyone gotten IPL 1.0 to work?

I get it working.
You should push down the "eject" button and power on your gamecube, then release the "eject" button.

I've been doing that, but it still freezes. Do you happen to have any pictures of your work? Thanks

You need to get a proper normally closed momentary switch for the eject button. SPST/SPDT switches have already been said to be unreliable. Even on IPL v1.1+ boards. If I have time I'll make a little video of an NTSC IPL 1.0 board working, and how to boot it properly.

Yes, SPST/SPDT switches are very unreliable, I can tell you all that for a fact as I was extensively trying to use one during Swiss development and it made it a very difficult process.
