Swiss and progressive scan help

Post by mat8888 » Fri Jun 28, 2013 1:09 am

So I got my wii component cable in the mail today. I used swiss to boot Super Mario sunshine, and I held B and selected progressive.
It worked great. But I came back later and now when I select progressive, the screen goes weird colors and a fifth of the bottom of the picture is on the top, and it's very choppy.

It does this consistently. So I tried SSBM and progressive mode worked fine. So I figure it's not my TV.
My bro is playing it on interlaced mode now, but I really want to get 480p working again.

I have video mode set to auto in swiss. If I force 480p I get a black screen.

Moved to Swiss forum.

I think this is an issue with the way you boot it on Wii (Wii Swiss booter etc). I haven't had these issues when booting Swiss via DVD-R on Wii.

Oh, yeah I use Wii swiss booter. Also I boot hbc straight from bootmii screen.

So can you use any DVD blanks for wii? I know the GameCube is particular about discs.

Also what about dios mios lite? The first time I tried to install it it didn't work but I think it might now that I've installed a custom ios.

If the game supports progressive scan out of the box, there's no need to boot it through Swiss.
Hardware: Wii (PAL)
Hardware configuration: System Menu 4.1E, Priiloader
Swiss boot method: Modified Wii Swiss Booter provided by Extrems
Software medium: Retail discs

I don't know much about running GameCube games on Wii other than via Swiss when booted properly via dvd-r on a hard-modded Wii.

So I popped in the disc I used for my gamecube to boot swiss [mini dvd-r] since I can't find any blank full size dvds at my house.

It boots with neoGamma.

And I have only tried it once so far but it worked to enable progressive [once again, force 480p = black screen. I held B until it asked to enable progressive] in Super Mario Sunshine. :)

But I still cannot get Luigi's mansion to work :S
It is the USA version.
the md5 of the .iso is 6e3d9ae0ed2fbd2f77fa1ca09a60c494

so far the furthest I've gotten was the Nintendo logo, then it goes black. It know Luigi's mansion was problematic for swiss, but it seems that the problem was fixed in a [then new] old version of swiss, but since I have the latest swiss [0.3] I would think it should work. but it doesn't.

currently no software apps support luigi mansion NTSC....long story, you can read about it if you find the thread...
use luigi mansion pal...or use original disc only
