Swapping to SDHC after booting, files don't show up
I boot swiss via SD Media Launcher, but when i swap out the 1GB SD for a 32GB (Lexar platinum ii) SDHC and load it via SDGecko on the swiss menu (r258) all that shows is "swiss.ini" and to the left where it has the sd information it looks like it is still showing the 1GB card because the capacity is 900-and-something megabytes.
Right now on the SDHC card i just have a folder called ISO with some games inside. but like i said, it appears swiss is still reading the 1GB card i booted with. I hit refresh and nothing happens.
I just got this SDML in the mail and was really looking forward to playing some games today, so I appreciate any help! Thanks in advance!
EDIT:
if i boot to the 1GB with SDML in slot B, i have to swap the card and adapter and put it in slot A or vice versa. it looks like whatever slot it boots to won't refresh when i put a new SD card in it. it still thinks the SD i booted with is in there. If theres a way I can not have to do this it would be kinda nice
in addition, now I'm trying to load an iso but it freezes at "Executing Game! 100% percent complete"

Re: Swapping to SDHC after booting, files don't show up
Any news?
I tried again today with the latest swiss (r260) and no luck. I boot to SD Media Launcher on slot B with a 1GB SD card, then swap it out with a 32GB lexar SDHC. The swiss menu however remains showing the files on the 1GB card i booted to, even after hitting refresh.
If i swap the 32gb with SDML over to slot A, it loads the files, but I've tried booting several ROM's (Super Mario Sunshine and Luigis Mansion) without success. They freeze after reaching 100%.
I bought this SDML over a month ago and haven't been able to use it yet

Re: Swapping to SDHC after booting, files don't show up
I know its tough, and I wish I had to skill to contribute in some way, but I'm really hoping to get this SDML working. I regret the purchase cause I haven't been able to play anything on my GC yet Any fixes and i'd be eternally grateful!
Re: Swapping to SDHC after booting, files don't show up
I might have an hour to check this out tonight. biggest problem is I couldn't find my SDML disc
Re: Swapping to SDHC after booting, files don't show up
dug out my SDML disc and tried this.. didn't have any issues swapping, refreshing/etc.
The behaviour I exhibit is when I boot SDML and then Swiss, I have Swiss browse the same card that was in when SDML was in, then I swap the card, hit refresh, and I'm taken to the SD selection screen, select SD card, and now it's the new contents..
Can you give me a bit more info about your SD cards?

Sure.
The card i boot swiss from is a SanDisk 1 GB standard SD card.
The card i am swapping to is a 32GB Lexar Platinum II class-10 SDHC.
Following the same process as you, after swapping the card, hitting refresh, then selecting SD card, it loads up the same contents as the previous card. it also shows in the left panel that its a 1GB card.
Here is a video I took of the booting/loading SDML/swiss process and what happens if you'd like to see it in person:

Re: Swapping to SDHC after booting, files don't show up
after swiss loads, do not read the 1GB card...
can you swap the 1GB card for the 32GB card and have the contents from the 32GB card displayed correctly?

booted swiss from the 1GB and immediately swapped the 32GB in before reading the contents. same thing. just pulls of the contents of the 1GB card instead.
Re: Swapping to SDHC after booting, files don't show up
r263 attempts to fix the swap issue, can you try it when it's up on the nightly builds thread?
Re: Swapping to SDHC after booting, files don't show up
Once again I suspect OP MisterShmi is using the reader that came with SDML.
Can you confirm?
There is something very wrong with that reader get rid of it and get a cheap substitute.

Tried it today with r264, still no luck
Yes I am using the SDML disc and reader from Datel. My GC is completely stock otherwise.
This is the exact reader i bought and am using:

Maybe you could try one of those?

Re: Swapping to SDHC after booting, files don't show up
I tried again with about 12 different SD card combinations to replicate the issue, even using the SDML SD adapter and couldn't reproduce the issue, megalomaniac has it happening but hasn't been able to figure out where it's going wrong yet.
So a new reader may or may not help you, but anything is better than the SDML adapter.

Grab the latest nightly build, issues should be resolved now!

Re: Swapping to SDHC after booting, files don't show up
sorry for the late reply, just got a new job and have been in the process of moving!
using the latest, r264 at time of writing, i get into the menu but am unable to read either card. both the 1GB and 32GB cards i get the box telling me its reading the contents, it will sit and read for a while (about 30 seconds or so i'd think) and then kick me back to the device selection menu. I'm unable to load and display the contents of either.
I sure do appreciate all the hard work you guys put into this. hopefully we can figure it out. as far as other SDreaders go, isn't SDML the only one that works without any type of modding? my GC is stock and I'd like to keep it that way if possible... hopefully buying the SDML wasn't a total waste of money

Re: Swapping to SDHC after booting, files don't show up
It sounds like your SD cards can't handle the 32MHz speed, I'll implement fallback to 16MHz, but you will see substantial slowdown using this speed, I'd suggest you buy a better SD card.

Re: Swapping to SDHC after booting, files don't show up
264 does not have all the recent SD card additions and fixes added this past week..MisterShmi wrote:using the latest, r264 at time of writing
download the latest version and try again
also maybe your sd card adapter is having issues too

Re: Swapping to SDHC after booting, files don't show up
Neither SD card will load now with r273 (tested using both 32 and 16mhz.) Both my 1GB sandisk and 32gb lexar say loading for a while and then kick back to the device selection menu.
Re: Swapping to SDHC after booting, files don't show up
Try 275, that attempts to use 16MHz if 32 fails.

Re: Swapping to SDHC after booting, files don't show up
Same problem. SDML boots fine, swiss boots fine, but both cards when i attempt to read say "reading SD in slot B" for a while and then go back to the device selection screen. It's been that way since i updated from r264 to r27x
