The Gameboy Player and Swiss
The Gameboy Player and Swiss
Hai
So, I'm convinced this isn't the first time this topic has arisen, and I'm convinced you know what I'm gonna say. Anyway:
Having bought a GBPlayer without the increasingly rare startup disc, I ordered an SD Media Launcher as a means to run a backup. When trying to boot from the SD Card, both the PAL and NTSC ISOs boot only to a black screen, using a Gamecube game in the DVD drive, and the motor still spinning. Running other games from the SD is fine.
When trying to boot from a DVD version of the "game", Swiss becomes stuck at "Enabling Patches 66%". Putting in an original GC disc fixes this, but then I have no opportunity to swap to the backup disc without Swiss trying to enable patches again.
I know I'm missing something really simple lol, could someone explain what?
Thanks in advance

Re: The Gameboy Player and Swiss
It has something to do with multi dol discs. Just burn the backup to play it and it'll work fine.
Re: The Gameboy Player and Swiss
It is burnt, I can't get past the "enabling patches" screen.
Re: The Gameboy Player and Swiss
Maybe disable patching ?
Re: The Gameboy Player and Swiss
Is it the first 'game' you've burned to a disc and tried? I have the same thing and I just burned the GBP disc to a mini DVD and it loaded up fine. If you never load DVD backups then it could be your POT needing be adjusted. Also, I had to clean the GB game I ran as it didn't load the first time either. Check the GBP cart slot for dust and debris as well.

You can do that? How?
Sorry, I'm such a scrub at these things

Re: The Gameboy Player and Swiss
Try cleaning the connections first. Then we can discuss the rest. It leads to disassembly of the console...

Re: The Gameboy Player and Swiss
lol I was replying to Streetwalker, sorry.
I did clean connections, and when unplugging the GBPlayer, I get the error "It isn't connected"
To clarify, how can I disable patching?

Re: The Gameboy Player and Swiss
When you select the DVD you get to set some options if you press X (I think that's the correct button but not sure).
Re: The Gameboy Player and Swiss
However getting to that menu requires getting past the "enabling patches" screen, as far as I can tell.
Re: The Gameboy Player and Swiss
Well then IDK. Let me check that.
Edit : Dolphin-emu decided to be a b*tch so I'll see when I reboot to Windows.

Re: The Gameboy Player and Swiss
Have you tried calling Nintendo directly, they should be able to sell you a brand new GBA start up disc for a decent price
Re: The Gameboy Player and Swiss
Pretty sure everything is sold out now
Re: The Gameboy Player and Swiss
Nintendo haven't sold start up discs for years afaik. After all, it was two generations ago. It would be like asking Sony for a brand new DualShock 2, you'd just have to get it elsewhere. Trouble is, the disc is so rare. That's why I'm trying to use SDML
Re: The Gameboy Player and Swiss
I bought mine a year or two ago
Re: The Gameboy Player and Swiss
same, maybe we made them sell out? They're out of everything now last I tried calling..
Re: The Gameboy Player and Swiss
Heh maybe, so no more component cables?
Re: The Gameboy Player and Swiss
none from what they tell me
Re: The Gameboy Player and Swiss
Thanks Emu_kidid, I'll try it when I get the chance.

Re: The Gameboy Player and Swiss
Not from nintendo directly, but plenty of unopened or good contitioned cables exist. Expensive, but it's worth it in the end.AC_Orange wrote:Heh maybe, so no more component cables?

Re: The Gameboy Player and Swiss
That's not the same thing, as the PS2 was end-of-lifed only one year ago.Xen0va wrote:It would be like asking Sony for a brand new DualShock 2

Re: The Gameboy Player and Swiss
PS2 production stopped in 2012 so it was more than a year ago.
Re: The Gameboy Player and Swiss
Either way, way more recently than GameCube.

Re: The Gameboy Player and Swiss
Emu_kidid and AC_Orange both got theirs a year or two ago, and the PS2 was end-of-lifed a year or two ago, so they're somewhat similar
Anyway, I tried the nightly build. From SD, I get a black screen, and "Error: Disk not initialized" from DVD. Any ideas?
