swiss in an open source program written and maintained by emu_kidid with source code access currently hosted thru googlecode.
While open source means the code is available to all and can be modified to suit individual needs, it should be noted that releasing updated build versions of the source to make available for public download should only be done if the source is compiled correctly and any associated files in the distributed package are up to date.
Why does the matter?
bug report feedback and stability!! There is zero validity for any potential bugs or compatibility issues reported using downloads compiled and distributed on other sites. Also there is no possibility to track down and isolate any reported issues.
While anyone can download the swiss code and compile a dol, there is a little more that must be done. For example, libfat-frag and libogc have some required patches that must be built. Without building these patches very unexpected results can occur.
If you are not using an official nightly build posted at gc-forever, then you do not know if the issue really exists due to an actual swiss bug or if its caused by improper compiling or outdated files.
Make sure only official nightly builds are used when testing and reporting bugs.
Examples:
Which swiss.iso would you burn to DVD? obviously not the iso created back in 2012
Which dol would you use? obviously not the dol with the missing revision information.
